Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create the first woman, Pandora, out of clay. Zeus gave Pandora a box and told her never to open it as punishment for Prometheus stealing fire. Pandora opened the box out of curiosity, releasing all diseases and misfortunes into the world. Only hope remained inside once Pandora tried to close it again.
