Paige Stokols developed a double-walled insulated thermal can with a drinking straw that retains heat for 8 hours and cold for 12 hours, longer than a single-walled water bottle. She had the idea in 2011 and designed and 3D modeled it from 2012 to 2013. Her patent application was approved by the USPTO in December 2014. The can is made of stainless steel and HDPE straw, has dimensions of 3 inches by 5.5 inches, and was meant to be a reusable substitute for disposable plastic bottles.
