Bending the curve - Saving $20M for State of Vermontwww.SMARTvt.org
The document outlines challenges with Vermont's child protection system and proposes a new approach called Bending the Curve (BTC) to address these challenges. The current system takes too many young children into state custody too soon, does too little for families, and spends too much money. BTC would establish multi-disciplinary teams in each county to thoroughly assess cases before custody and provide coordinated services to safely keep families together whenever possible. Pilot projects found BTC could reduce custody rates for young children by 30% while improving outcomes and saving millions annually. The goal is to divert 12-25 children from custody per county through early intervention and family support.

The Role of Religious Institutions in Constructing MinoritiesDr. Ghalia Sarmani
This thesis examines how religious institutions help construct the religious identities of Muslim minorities in Britain, using the Manchester Islamic Centre (MIC) as a case study. Through interviews and observation, it analyzes how the MIC mosque, Quran school, and activities shape attendees' Islamic identities. It finds that the mosque provides an Islamic environment that fosters religious and cultural solidarity. However, it can also lead to clashes over identity. The Quran school teaches Islamic knowledge and Arabic, maintaining religious traditions. Overall, the thesis evaluates how institutions like the MIC help Muslim communities maintain their religious identities in a non-Muslim society.

This RECI Overview Report is based on the country reports and compares and contrasts respective policy contexts and service delivery models. It proposes a series of recommendations for more comprehensive and inclusive early childhood services and provides a clear agenda for action by governments.
The findings and recommendations of the Overview Report are particularly relevant at this point in time as the recent Europe 2020 strategy requires member states and those seeking accession to the European
Union, to develop national strategies for Roma inclusion. Moreover, two years of preschool education for all Roma children has been one of the targets of the Roma Decade, since its inception. It is the belief of the collaborating agencies that the time is right for governments to act.
Comprehensive early childhood services for all children, starting with the prenatal period and extending through the early years of primary education, must be expanded, with an explicit focus on the most disadvantaged and marginalised groups such as the Roma, so that the reality of Roma inclusion is realised for this generation of young Roma children and beyond.

Our precious sprouts islamic regulations for newborns by muhammad al jibalydocsforu
This is the fourth book in the Muslim Family Series. The first three
books deal with various aspects of marriage as follows:
1. The Quest for Love & Mercy
Regulations tor Marriage & Wedding in Islam
2. Closer than a Garment
Marital Intimacy According to the Pure Sunnah
3. The Fragile Vessels
Rights and Obligations between the Spouses in Islam
As a logical continuation to these three, this sequel deals with the
normal fruit of marriage: babies. It covers the Islamic regulations relating to a
newborn. This includes welcoming the baby, naming it, shaving its hair,
circumcising it, and slaughtering the sacrificial ‘aqiqah.
The discussion of naming the newborn covers recommended and
prohibited names, nicknames, and kunyahs. It is further enhanced with two
appendices that list Allah’s authentic excellent names, as well as a large
number of suggested Islamic names for both genders.
The discussion of ‘aqiqah includes its ruling, animals to be
slaughtered, dispensing of the meat, the 'aqiqah’s feast, and the 'aq'iqah’s
wisdom.
The discussion of circumcision includes the circumcision process, its
ruling for boys and girls, its benefits, and excessiveness and other violations.
Other discussions include tahnik, shaving the baby's head, piercing
the ears, breast-feeding, protection from the evil eye, babies' toys and
clothes, birthdays, and so on.
We intended — and we believe that we largely succeeded — in making
this book a complete reference covering the correct Islamic acts that parents
need to perform for their newborn during its first few weeks. All praise is due
to Allah.

In light of this development, DESA’s Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD) launched a new publication on “Men in Families and Family Policy in a Changing World” on 17 February focusing on the shifting roles and views of men in families.
