2.  The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF) runs a
variety of programs that support the cultural
growth of its community members and the
needs of Jewish communities everywhere.
People interested in visiting other countries
to engage in cultural exchanges and
improve the lives of Jews can take part in
one of the JUF’s missions, which take place
in destinations ranging from the Czech
Republic and former Soviet Union to Latin
America.

3.  Each mission trip brings members of the JUF
community face-to-face with the people their
support helps. JUF staff handle all travel
logistics, thus leaving participants able to
dedicate their energies to making new friends
and learning firsthand about the challenges
faced by the communities they visit. Since
2000, the JUF has been particularly active in
sending missions to its Israeli partnership region,
which receives nearly $1 million annually from
the organization for a variety of uses. For more
