Outgoing Message by SPA Board Chairman
30th December 2016
Dear Members of the outgoing board, directors, managers, staff
As the year comes to a close I take this time as your outgoing chair to say thank you. Thank you
to the members of the board for your input, insight, and suggestions. Our almost monthly
meetings and your active participation was in my mind very important as we engaged with port
management on key projects and areas of concern. I know we addressed important matters
and were as well in the process to address others. Our aim was to ensure continual progress
and improvements at the SPA, by not only showing our support by stressing on accountability,
but by as well actively communicating the need to improve upon practices in place. In a short
space of time I believe we did this.
To the managers and staff of the SPA I as well extend my personal thanks to the courtesies
extended and for your valuable input. Our meetings revealed much and served as a motivation
in part. Value placed on our employees must not only be verbal, but must be clearly
demonstrated and seen and part of the management culture. The future growth and success of
our sea ports, will arrive in great part, in how our people feel part of the team at the port
authority. Their contributions and support are needed.
I conclude by extending my best wishes to the CEO, the Deputy CEO, the new board members
and incoming chair, Commodore Paul Hodoul (RET), all managers, and to all staff and their
families.
Keep on striving to improve where needed and to drive that professional culture at the SPA.
To your continued success in 2017 and beyond! Make the Seychellois nation proud!
Raymond St.Ange
