KAROSTA
KIDS:
WHAT'S
THAT?
Welcome! My
name is Tatyana
Tarasova and I
today I will lead
you through this
presentation.
We will talk about Karosta Kids, a youth organization, in terms of...
History Vision Values Schedule Team
It all started with me. When I was
young, I went to a boarding school
and my dream was to become a
psychologist, but my mother was
not able to support me.
It seemed like my life was ruined at
the age of 16 when I ran away from
home, where my step-father
abused me. I was hoping to find
love and support in getting married.
When I was 17, I gave birth to my
daughter. I had no education, no
accommodation, and no skills to
live. All I had was disappointment
and broken dreams.
But someone else believed in me.
God put a christian in my way, who
believed in me and invested the first
100 dolars so I could enter an
university.
Later on, my daughter wanted to
continue her studies at the Music
School and, like my mother, I was
not able to support her.
In order to get money to continue
her studies, she played violine in the
streets.
Her action became news in the latvian
newspaper and then someone else
believed in my daughter. Viktor
Gludausis read the news and decided
to help my daughter.
Imagine my
happiness when
the journalist
called to give
me the good
news :)
And now I want to pay forward
what once was given to me when I
most needed it: support, inspiration,
faith, and a chance to be creative
instead of criminal.
That's the
story of how a
Youth Center
in Karosta was
created...
...which had received the award of
one of the best organizations in
Liepaja, in 2013.
History Vision Values Schedule Team
Karosta Kids is on a mission to
empower youth at risk for a better
future.
We provide educational, emotional,
physical and spiritual support to at-
risk youth and families in order to
help them break the cycle of
poverty and social discrimination.
And like me and
my daughter, I
believe these
Karosta Kids will
pay forward what
they are receiving.
History Vision Values Schedule Team
Karosta Kids seeks to help teenagers
and youth to learn valuable skills
and become more education-
focused in order to improve their
ability to live fulfilling lives.
