An APM webinar sponsored by the Scotland Branch on 28 September 2021.
Presenter: Andy Brown
As a result of significant turbulence in the industry since 2015, the engineering construction industry has recognised the need to collaborate for project efficiency. This webinar was held on 28 September 2021.
Working with industry partners, the ECITB has developed a guidance toolkit that supports the development of a collaborative project environment. The presentation will provide an overview of the Project Collaboration Toolkit, associated case studies that have demonstrated the value of collaboration and ongoing work to develop a collaborative working agreement that supports these behaviours.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

5. Google
• Google has never tried to lock users into its products.
• It believes that when people spend more time online wherever
they spend it everyone gets benefit.
• Chrome has slowly eaten away Microsoft’s Market Share.
• Google operating platform Android free to any hand-set
manufacturer is the first real competition to iPhone.
• Google recently released Google Body Browser, an interactive 3-D
simulation of the human body that allow users to peel back layers
of the body and zoom in to study specific organs, bones, muscles
and more.
5
6. • Google emphasis on cooperation might be tested in coming
years as it moves more steadily into markets now dominated
by Apple.
• Google is also moving into other businesses such as digital
music services that put it in direct competition with a tough
rival.
• “Open systems don’t always win,” warned Steve Jobs,
Apple’s co-founder and former CEO, who always kept tight
control.
• The business press is full of articles that talk about
frenemies, reflecting the trend toward companies being both
friends and enemies, collaborators and competitors.
• Mutual dependencies and partnerships have become a fact of
life.
• Companies today may use their strength to achieve victory
over competitors, but ultimately cooperation carries the day.

10. Withdrawal of Sale - 2017
Reasons for Failure:-
• Match up to its competitors such as Maruti and
Hyundai.
• To establish strong foothold in Indian Market
• To adapt the needs of Indian customers
• Manufacturing decisions without indepth knowledge
or understanding of customer’s psyche.
10
11. Why is Cooperation so hard ?
• The civil aviation minister of India, initiated the
merger of Air India Limited and Indian Airlines
Limited in 2007.
• The result of the merger was the single body: the
National Aviation Company India Limited.
• Nonetheless, five years after the merger, Air India
slipped from first position down to the fourth.
• Air India’s domestic market share declined from
19.2% to 14% between September 2007 and May
2011.
11
13. Conclusion
• The companies used different reservation systems
prior to the merger. It was decided that the two
systems would be combined.
• However, there was an excessive delay in this
process.
• As a result, the merged body was able to establish a
common reservation system on by February 2011.
• This caused an increase in costs and inefficient
utilization of aircraft.

14. Innovation, Collaboration for sustainability and
growth
The goal is to draw attention to the value of UK-India
innovation partnerships across a range of industries and

there is a collabration with IIT Delhi and IIITD in
order to develop Quantum key distribution so security
breaches acan be identified.
16
17. Clean Energy
● Universities in the UK and India are working together to
develop environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil
fuels and bring electricity to rural areas.
● They seek to develop dependable and sustainable fossil
fuel substitutes by utilizing solar technology and waste
biomass.
17

Cold Chain Development have worked together and
design a sustainable supply chain called as “Clean
Cold”
● This cause less wastage and double farmer income
which is a goal for Modi govermnent.
● Metail is an online clothes shop made clothes
according to customer fitting. It has collabration with
Aditya Birla Group.
18
19. Conclusions
Innovation, knowledge sharing, and technological
advancements are encouraged by these collaborations.
Both nations can address major challenges and open
up new opportunities by utilizing emerging
manufacturing technologies like robotics, IoT,
advanced manufacturing, logistics supply chains, e-
commerce, and clean energy.
