This document provides information about Bespoke Charters and the Oceansouldiers Camp Amanzi-Wai fishing lodge in Fiji. 3. OSC CAMP AMANZI-WAI
- INTRODUCTION -
is isolated island of the Lau Group is still very traditional when
it comes to western influence. For the Fijians, land is not a
commodity but rather a gift from God and from their ancestors who
rest there, a sacred space with which they need to interact if they
are to maintain their identity and values.
We have been fortunate enough to be allowed into this community,
accepted as family, brothers and we embrace them and their culture
for it. On arrival every member of the party will receive a taste of
their incredible custom and be introduced to the Chief in a ceremony
known as Sevu-Sevu, a Kava gathering.
Once introduced and blessed we will be allowed to make our way
to Oceansouldiers base camp, AMANZI-WAI Lodge. Fishing will
commence after a hearty breakfast every morning, lunch will be out
on the water and we will return after a hard days fishing for ice cold
beers and an authentic braai under the stars, where the anglers will
no doubt banter about the days action.
During our reconnaissance spent fishing the area was nothing
short of mind blowing. Our Eco-Camp will aim to be a completely
sustainable offering. Due to its completely remote nature we had
to build cleverly with an off-the-grid mindset. Run by solar power
with a fresh groundwater well that has served the villagers for
centuries, this place is truly mystifying.

4. OSC CAMP AMANZI-WAI
- THE CAMP LAYOUT -
e camp concept* is to be comfortable yet relaxed in it’s atmosphere.
Simplistic yet appealing in its construction. Solid foundations with beautiful,
saltwater treated local hardwood make up the decking of the complete camp.
At its hub is a main area, where our guests can watch our chef create world class
creations time and time again. Enjoy an ice cold local beer from the equipped bar,
while watching the Rugby on HD or reminiscing about the days fishing around the
sunken fire pit make up some of the layout.
We want our guests to literally feel at home, like our friends would
in our own home. It’s a different mindset but one that sets us apart
from the rest. We have cut away the frills but replaced them with the
essential things that one truly needs to have both a fishing experience
and a rejuvenating break of a lifetime.

5. - ACCOMMODATION -
e Fijian Bure’s present the perfect mix for tropical luxury. Treated and tested for
the local climate for centuries, they provide a solid structure and ultimate comfort
and a fresh sea breeze on a hot day. Locked down they provide a fortress against the
sporadic test of harsht elements and tropical rainstorms.
All Bure’s will have en-suite bathrooms, equipped with full bathroom and enclosed
shower, decorated in accents of sustainable hardwoods. All beds are singles that
can be made comfortably up into doubles, with cotton sheets, linen and towels will
be provided including all the amenities one would expect from a top class resort.
Ultimately providing a space that all our members would happily call home away
from home while with us.
OSC CAMP AMANZI-WAI
- ACCOMMODATION -
ree Fiji Bure’s* will make up the camp in its initial phases. We have chosen to use
what fits best to the ecosystem and the people and culture of Fiji. ese will make
up the accommodation in the camp. Each Bure will have its own privacy with world
class views of the jungle and the the sea overlooking neighbouring islands. One Bure
will have its own private beach access, making it an ultimate honeymooners dream or
romantic getaway.

6. OSC CAMP AMANZI-WAI
- THE FISHING -
It goes to say that the waters we will be fishing and have exclusive access to are some
of the most pristine uncharted waters in the world. e species that can be found
literally in front of our lodge on a pushing or dropping tide are something to keep our
guests with sleepless nights being bust off by large permit, Triggerfish or on a massive
Giant Trevally feeding ravenously at sunset. is place is like no other on earth.
- THE FISHING -
e flats fishing around our island and that of surrounding islands, via our Fijian
skiff, is a fly-fisherman’s skinny-water dream. Boasting shoalling, feeding Triggerfish,
Bonefish, Indo-Pacific Permit, GT’s, Blue-spot Kingfish, Wrasse, Coral Trout and more.
Topwater anglers will go out wide daily on our 32ft Sportfisher, equipped with 2
X 200’s, Scimitar Sounders and an thirst for large Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish,
Amberjack and Giant Trevally family. All the main locations lie within 5 - 10 N. Mile
range with one trip weekly out to 30 N. Mile locations such as Mango Island, with a
very real chance of landing a Dogtooth Tuna, GT or Bill-fish of a lifetime.

7. OSC CAMP AMANZI-WAI
- 32FT SPORTFISHER -
Equipped with 2 X 200’s, Simrad sounder and side scanning, the works. Centre
console with a large walk-around casting deck custom built for 4 topwater (Jigging /
Popping) fisherman. It will take a maximum of 4 Topwater fisherman / 2 Blue-water
Flyfisherman with absolute ease.
Fishing packages will include a minimum of 5 days taken out to locations within the
5 - 10 N. Mile range and the sixth day guests will be taken out to 30 N. Mile locations
such as Mango Island (See Topwater Package rates in the following pages)
- 17FT FIJIAN SKIFF -
Seen above however our model will be custom built with an integrated casting
platform catering for a maximum of 2 Flyfisherman. is vessel is used as a default
vessel for all the locals in the Fijian islands and is more than adequate to get you to
the flats you need to get to in order to hunt the array of species we have on offer.
e main locations needed to get to some of the most incredible flats fishing in the
world are all within the 2 Nautical mile radius and will take a max of 2 Flyfisherman /
2 Surfers / 6 Snorkelling guests comfortably.
Guide / skipper rates are compulsory and added onto all boat rentals when using them for fishing.

8. OSC CAMP AMANZI-WAI
- FULL BOARD -
Part of our ethos is offer all our clients a standard full board when staying with us.
Full board includes three meals cooked by a world class chef made from both local and
sustainable ingredients. Fresh produce delivered weekly, our own organic vegetable
and herb garden, combined with New-Zealand lamb, Australian beef, Fijian Pork and
fresh fish caught daily outside our lodge will provide our guests with modern yet
simple cuisine bursting with flavours of an island style bistro, inspired by Africa and
Fiji. All snacks, water, soft drinks, juices and limited alcohol* will all be included in
your day rate.
*Alc. p/person p/day: 3 X Beers OR 3 X 50cl. Shot local spirits OR 3 glasses house white / red per night.
- OTHER ACTIVITIES -
With the fact that the location is so attractive to both the fisherman but also perfect
as a relaxing getaway for our clients as well. Activities we will also offer on the resort
for clients partners would be things such as cultural tours, snorkelling around the
beautiful reefs on front of the resort, cooking classes and hikes around the island.
Yoga will also be offered for the guests to enjoy when not on the water or while their
partners are out fishing.
Surfing is on our blood as OceanSouldiers and will also be an option however
must be arranged beforehand so an experienced guide is on-site.
