This study investigates the oral computer-mediated communication (CMC) between L2 Spanish learners, focusing on how they negotiate meaning during task-based interactions in audio and video formats compared to traditional face-to-face communication. The findings reveal that learners engaged in both oral CMC modes actively negotiate meaning, though differences exist in negotiation strategies due to the lack of visual cues in audio CMC. Overall, the study suggests that oral CMC, particularly through platforms like Skype, can be a beneficial tool for language learning, warranting further exploration in the classroom context.
