Oracle optach update

1. Oracle Bundle patch Update 11.2.0.3/37
LoginintoSAPsystem,checkthe oracle patch level withtcode DBACOCKPIT
Performance->additionalFunctions->Bundle patches
ThenAs perthe recommendation,downloadthe oracle patchesfromservice marketplace
Afterdownloading,the patches willcontainthese filesasbelow.
Copythese filesintothe drive where youintendto.
NowloginintoOSlevel of the system,example: uk-sap-601d
Checkthe environmental variableslike ORACLE_SID,ORACLE_HOME,PATH,
Oracle_sid= GAD
ORACLE_HOME = D:OracleGAD11203
Path= D:OracleGAD11203opatch-----thisisrequired,whenwe runopatchapply,whengoingvia

Thisinturnsgetthe pathfrom oracle directoryie Ddrive and update the BIN directory

2. These shouldbe correctlymaitained.
Take backup of the folderInventorywhichislocatedatORACLE_HOME
Ex:
StopSAP fromMMC
ThenafterstoppingSAP, we have to stop Oracle services,DistributedTransaction
Coordinator,oracle listenerservices.
Change the startuptype to Disabled.Before thistake screenshotof the original propertieslike
automatic,manual,disbaled,delayedstart.Sothatwhile startingservices,we canrevertitback to its
original.
Bringthe oracle downthroughshutdownimmediate command.
ThenRename the BIN foldertoBINN
Nowrestartthe System(OS).
It will take some 15 minsto start.
Checkwhetherthe opatchfolderinthe Oracle_home folderie d:oracle11203has the latestone.
If not copy fromothersystems/servers orfromservice marketplacce
Rename BIN folderbackto original
Please followthe readme file whichisdownloadedalongwiththe patches.

3. ThenGo tothe directorywhere youdownloadedthe patch:

Ensure that the directorycontainingthe OPatchscriptappearsinyour PATHsetting.Enterthe
followingcommandtorunOPatch:
opatch apply
thenit will askforsome option,Type Y, and enter, thenOpatchwill startand u will geta message
as Opatch Succedded.
Inspectthe opatch<timestamp>.logfile generatedin%ORACLE_HOME%cfgtoollogsopatchforany
errors.
Now,
Start the OracleService<SID>andOracle ListenerServicesif already notstarted.(change its
startuptype to its original ones),andalsostartDistributedtransactioncoordinatorandthen
Start all database instancesrunningoutof the ORACLE_HOME that you justpatched(start
Oracle and checkwhetheritsconnected)
Nowgoto the drive,where oracle exists
D:oracleGAD11203bundlePatch37andinCMD , navigate tothe path so that youcan
execute the below commands.
D:oracleGAD11203bundlePatch37sqlplus/nolog
SQL> CONNECT/ AS SYSDBA
SQL> STARTUP

4. SQL> @catwinbundle.sql
SQL> QUIT
Nowagain navigate inCMD promptto thispath
Cd D:oracleGAD11202RDBMSADMIN
D:oracleGAD11202RDBMSADMIN sqlplus/nolog
SQL> CONNECT/ AS SYSDBA
SQL> @utlrp.sql
To check forinvalidobjects,executethe followingstatement:
SQL> SELECT OBJECT_NAME FROMDBA_OBJECTSWHERE STATUS = 'INVALID';
Nowstart SAP and change the startuptype to original .and checkinDBACOCKPIT
Opatch completed.
Nowupdate the recommendedoracle parameterin INIT<SID>.ORA file
