An online Chinese chess system was launched on January 18, 2012 to benefit visually impaired users. The free software allows blind users to play chess on computers and interact with others via the internet. It integrates artificial intelligence and supports screen reading software. Testing showed it was easy to use. The goals are to connect visually impaired individuals to the online world and help with rehabilitation through strategic thinking. There is potential to expand it to mobile devices and integrate with social networks.

 The e-World hasn’t had online Chinese chess system
for the visually impaired people so far.

users
 We aim to let them, whom are interested in Chinese
chess, to be connected with the internet world instead
of to be isolated.
 Playing our product not only help them to be familiar
with the computer skills, but also build up a platform
for them to have interaction with the public.

 We have invited Mr. Chong Chan Yau, MBE, President
of Hong Kong Blind Union, to test the product.
 Mr. Chong believes the product is easy to be used and
one of the public entertainments for the visually
impaired group.
 In order to be convenient for the clients, Mr. Chong
also suggested us to use speech software, such as JAWS,
NVDA.
 We have done all he suggested.
