The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is India's largest oil and gas exploration and production company, with a 84% market share of crude oil and gas production in India. ONGC was established in 1956 as the Oil and Natural Gas Directorate and was converted to a statutory body called the Oil and Natural Gas Commission in 1959. In 1994, it became the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited. ONGC produces petroleum, crude oil, natural gas, LPG, kerosene, and petrochemical feedstock. It also engages in corporate social responsibility initiatives in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and environmental protection.
