17. I don’t know a thing from the very beginning. I only had the basic hand knowledge that there is a murderer on the loose and the coppers have long given up on the chase. I didn’t know where else to begin, so I went to a little joint known as Club Pie 2.0. Seemed good enough as any place to start looking. The appeal is simple enough: spend 38 smackers for every hour your in the club and you can do almost anything you want. Except mess with the owner. Then you got into some serious trouble. But I’m smart. Perhaps a little too smart for my own good. I just happen to know things and well… let’s move on from there. Club Pie 2.0
18. I don’t know a darn thing! Aiming to sate my curiosity, I decide to start asking around, see who knows what. However, most of my idle chatter lead to nothing. No one didn’t know what from what and who from who. The only names that got named was absolutely nil. I practically got no where for hours on end. I only know what was broadcast on the television. Apparently, I was not the only one left in the dark about this matter.
19. … I even get around to speaking with a few folks that I know on a good level only to come up empty. My gosh, I’ve gotten ahead of myself, haven’t I? What exactly is it I’m trying to get at? Well the basics are clear enough: murder. But that was easy. What murder? The nefarious Strangling Servo case is what I’m digging up. How could I have not mentioned this before? Nevertheless, I only know the basics that most people in town seem to know: that some person used a servo to go about murdering innocents. There have been several victims, totaling seven. The case has since gone under and no one seems to know why. Sorry, my friend.
20. Tired from flapping my jaw and spending countless hours questioning, I begin to wane from ever getting someplace. That is until I meet this person. At first, I am expecting the same thing: “I don’t know anything at all.”
21. “I do know a little bit about the case.” She tells me. I’m nearly dumbfounded at the response. It takes me a moment to gather myself before continuing on. “What can you tell me?” “It’s not so much what I can tell you, but rather who I know that can probably tell you everything.” I think I know what you may be looking for.
22. Not passing up this opportunity, I press further. “So who is this person that you know that could tell me everything?” “She worked on the case, last I recall. Detective Elmyra Beaker.” “And you would just tell me this?” “Why would I have any reason to hide it?” “I don’t know. Was just curious.” “Elmyra and I go way back. Trust me.” “How exactly do you know Elmyra?” “College. We were guild mates.” “As interesting as this is, I’m afraid I must be going. Please understand that there is some urgent matter I must now tend to.” “Of course.” Her name is Elmyra.
23. It takes a simple matter of looking her up in the phone book and a quick phone call to arrange a meeting with Elmyra. I arrive in the shopping district and begin searching for the only apartment complex in the area. She lives on the third floor. Let’s hope we don’t resort to throwing anyone out of windows.
24. Looking at that door is like looking at the truth. So simple yet so far away. So I reach out and do what I gotta do.
25. Introductions are quickly made and then it’ straight to business. “What do you know about the Strangling Servo?” “I know plenty. I was assigned to part of the case when I first got on the force.” “Start from the beginning.” “How much do you already know?” “Just what the public knows.” “Alright, then it’s better to start from another point. No sense in going over already covered ground.” “Good point.” What is it that you want to know?
26. The story begins with a stakeout. “Myself and a fellow officer where told to keep watch of the final victim. However, the servo somehow managed to get past us and do her in. It’s at this point I decide to figure out who exactly has a servo in Strangetown. I was thrown off at first by Loki since he had made one for his family. It was only then that I remembered the first servo I saw was owned by the Pies. It had passed into possession to one Gargamel Pie. When I went to check the household initially, I was barred. Having eventually come back with a search warrant, I was able to enter the household, but of my own accord. The door had been unlocked and I could only find one person: the late Carmen Lewis.” “Who was she?” “To the best of my knowledge, she was Gargamel’s wife.” What happened then?” That servo wasn’t the real killer…
27. “Upon further inspection of the house, I came across a servo in one of the back rooms. It had been switched off, but I knew for certain that this one had to be the one used for the killings. Gargamel had apparently ordered the servo to conduct all the deaths.” “Do you know why?” “Not at all. There’s something else.” “What?” “I think this somehow involves Jill Smith.” “Who is she?” He ordered the killings… but I don’t know why exactly.
28. “Jill Smith was apparently Gargamel’s girlfriend. She died in an accident while in college. I’m not sure how this is all linked, but her body was also exhumed shortly after I started to suspect Gargamel of wrong-doing.” “Hmmm… is there anything else you can think of?” “No. Nothing useful.” “You said you worked with a partner. Name?” “Ripp. Ripp Grunt. But we’re not partners anymore. Reassigned.” “Why?” “I’d rather not say.” I had it in my hand…
29. With nothing else to discuss, I take my leave. Not that I didn’t fully trust Elmyra, but perhaps there is something more than meets the eye. I’m going to have a little chat with this Ripp Grunt fellow and see if he has anything more to say on the matter.
30. Ripp Grunt lives in a not too shabby home in the main hood. He inherited it from his late father. Outside of working from the Strangetown PD, I know next to nothing. Except that he’s the kind of guy that likes to get around with the ladies. But then again, everyone knows that. I am very curious about one thing though: does he truly feel so safe leaving his front door open like that?
31. Again, we get straight to the point. “I’ve already spoken to Detective Beaker about this, but perhaps you have some light to shed as well. Can you tell me what you know?” “Look, if you’ve already talked to her, then you probably know more than I do. After that night we made that mistake, I haven’t been on the case since. She’s the one that kept pursuing it.” “Ah the mistake. When the servo slipped in unnoticed?” “Anyone could have slipped in. I bet she blames it on me.” “Blames what on you exactly?” I’m probably no help to you…
32. “Listen, Elmyra already told you this. No need to bring it up again.” “Actually, she only said that the servo slipped by. She never said how it managed that.” “She didn’t even bring that up? The biggest mistake of the night? Oh man. Alright, here’s the truth. The reason that servo sneaked in was because the two of us were distracted. By each other.” “Go on.” This is what happened…
33. “We’re sitting in the car, keeping an eye out when all of a sudden, Elmyra starts making googly eyes at me. Next thing I know, are lips are locked in some passionate make-out and the gear shift is the only thing proving to be uncooperative. And just as things start getting good, a scream bursts out and we’re running nillywilly into the house trying to figure out what’s going on. That’s when we find the servo doing in the last victim. That’s what happened.” “I see. And what happened next?” “Nothing. Well… everything came crashing down on me. I try to keep getting together with her and she turns me away. Suddenly she’s got a boyfriend and I’m just some stooge.” “No, I mean… what happened to both of you? I mean, professionally. Certainly you two got in trouble. Didn’t your lieutenant punish you or something?” “All she did was make sure we weren’t partners anymore. That’s it.” She came onto me!
34. Suspicious. Why would the two officers not get reprimanded for something so serious? A person died on their watch and the worst thing they could do is separate them? Hmmm… I think it’s time to speak to their former supervisor and see if she might know anything on the matter. Luckily, I just happen to know who that is. How? Maybe I’m just too smart for my own good.
35. The superior officer aka Lieutenant of both Ripp and Elmyra turns out to be Kirsten Singles, one of the four ladies that is roomies together when Strangetown is first started. However since, Kristen has lost one roomie, namely that of Senator Erin. Now the Police Chief, Kristen has a few things to answer for me.
36. I waste no time as per usual. “I need to ask some questions in relation to the Strangling Servo case.” “Oh? And how can I help you with that exactly?” “There were two officers assigned to protect one of the victims. I am curious as to why they did not receive any punishment for failing to fulfill their duties.” “What are you talking about?” “Officer Ripp Grunt and Elmyra Beaker. Neither of them were reprimanded for their actions while on assignment. I find that to be somewhat suspicious.” How may I be of service to you?
37. “I fail to see how any of this is any of your business. In fact, that is information more for police. Understand?” “No I don’t understand. Two officers are on duty, fail to protect a person who ends up dead and the only thing that happens is nothing. What exactly is going on here?” “Listen, you came asking about the servo case, not about the people who were working on it.” “I find it to be of importance. I have to ask now: where both officers fulfilling some sort of hopeful action? That is to say, was there screw up really a screw up? I’m curious if the whole reason they were put together was knowing beforehand that something that did happen would happen.” “And I think you’re just some nosy conspiracy theorist. This conversation is over. Get the hell out now!” What’s your problem?
38. Leaving the police chief’s residence left me with a few answers directly from her, but I feel as if I’ve gathered enough from what I suspect. Knowing that a potential criminal mastermind is behind this, it would do him some serious good if he had someone on the inside to help him out. And if that person is now the police chief, all the better. If my suspicions are correct, then who knows how much of the police force might actually be under this Gargamel’s influence. The fact that Elmyra was able to pull off as much from her own investigation makes me wonder though. Perhaps there are still some that are unaffected. Or maybe just not pawns yet. I said get out of my house, didn’t I?
39. Try checking out… I end up finding myself back at Club Pie 2.0 Trying to deduce my next move, I ask a different kind of sim for some clues. I found three that prove to be useful. They all seem to figure that another of their kind is in cahoots. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some answers. …the simself known… …as PetTech.
40. Looking her up in the phonebook, I come across a startling realization. This PetTech lives in the same apartment complex as Detective Elmyra. Could the link between crook and cop really be that close? I was told to wait until dark to visit the simself, as she is a vampire. When night falls, I knock on the door and am surprisingly let inside.
41. “Listen, I did help out the main Pie family for a little while. I managed their band. Made a lot of simoleons too. I won’t deny that. Not at all. But tell me, why are you really here, little girl?” “I’m here because people think you’re somehow linked with Gargamel and his strangling servo. Are you?” Good evening… Isn’t the night wonderful?
42. “Is that what you’re after? A little knowledge? Well, the only thing I’ll tell you is that I helped with the endless winter. You’ll have to figure the rest out on your own, little one.” “You seem a little forthcoming with this information.” “This town is gonna burn and there’s nothing you can do about it. No simself in this town can stop it either. The only one who can is long dead and his urn glitched out of existence.” There’s nothing you can do. The end is coming.
43. “Where’s Gargamel?” “As if I know. I haven’t been in contact with him since the band stint. I’ve since been working for the hospital. I don’t know where Gargamel is and even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you.” Not knowing what else to say. I take my leave. I didn’t need to waste anymore time, even if this simself is lying or telling the truth. I have to find Gargamel now!
44. It is time to start tracking down Gargamel himself. I’ve got a strong feeling that he is somewhere in Strangetown. It’s just a matter of finding him. I start my search in the downtown area, checking the clubs. Why? Because it’s apparent the police aren’t really looking for Gargamel even though they have strong knowledge that he has to be the fiend. And consider for a moment that I haven’t seen anyone actually advertise that Gargamel is a wanted criminal in the news. All that’s know is that there was a servo on the loose. Armed with this knowledge, it’s clear that no one would ever point the finger at Gargamel, even if they saw him. And what would the police do? They’d probably let him walk. Either way, my search begins.
45. And wouldn’t you believe it? Perhaps it is luck or fortune on my side, but the first place I check and I spot Gargamel. Now you might be thinking, “How do you know that’s Gargamel? This is the first time you’ve ever seen him.” Trust me, my questioning of certain individuals that know about him was more intense than I let on. I only let you know what information was important at the time. Or maybe this is just a plot hole. In any case, I spot Gargamel in the first club I check and quickly approach him.
46. “I know who you are.” “Excuse me?” “You’re Gargamel… the person in charge if the strangling Servo. I know it’s you. Don’t try to deny it.” “… So you’re the person I’ve been hearing about. Asking questions about that case. Let’s talk someplace more… private.”
47. “What’s to stop me from taking you in right this instance? Or telling everyone here who you really are?” “You’d be crazy. No one would believe you. As far as they’re concerned, the strangling servo case is old hat. There’s nothing they would do to help you either.” “So you are a criminal mastermind.” “Let’s go someplace else and talk about this. Now.” With no other options seemingly available, I agree. “Where to?”
48. I follow him to his lair, some house out in the main neighborhood. He leads me to a back room and I quickly spot a servo in front of a computer. I should have known this was a trap! The servo doesn’t move though and Gargamel motions me over. “You want to talk? Let’s talk.” “I want answers, Gargamel. Everyone demands to know the truth. Why did you have those people killed? What did they ever do?”
49. “They killed her. They killed Jill. Not directly, but it was their influence that caused her to get killed.” “But the police said…” “That it was a case of DD. I know what they said. And now they dance to my tune. They do what I want them to do.” “So Kristen Singles does work for you. That explains that angle. But why Carmen? What did she do to deserve death?”
50.
51. “When the detective came over asking questions, Carmen knew more than she let on. After all, I met her through the servo. It was the servo that had put us together. Sadly, her knowing what she did is what caused her to die.” “And you just let the servo kill her too?” “No. It wasn’t the servo.” “Then how’d she die?”
52. “Jill killed Carmen.” “But you just said that Jill is dead. How could she…” “Jill is dead. And how do ghosts kill the living?” “You mean, Carmen was scared to death?” “That’s right.” “And now what are you aiming to do? What’s with the endless winter?” “It’s a way of bringing back Jill.”
53. “I don’t understand. Why not bring her back through normal methods?” “I was never allowed to go to college, so I can’t obtain the bone phone. I am no warlock, nor do I desire to become one. And the genie? I don’t dare take the risk that Jill comes back as a zombie, even if that chance is slim. I won’t take that chance.” “Then how?” “I… I have my way. But that’s all I’m going to tell you for now.”
54. “Tell me! I demand to know!” “Demand all you want, but I won’t tell you. Servo… I need you to take care of this person.” I didn’t even notice the servo moving closer until he mentions it. Already too late, it’s on top of me.
55. “This unit is now engaging combat parameters. Any attempt to fight back will be retaliated upon.” “Retaliated upon? Don’t expect me to go out without a fight!”
56.
57. OUCH! So much for winning that fight. Still I am able to make my escape while the servo dusts its hands clean from my butt kicking. I have to escape and tell the world what I have discovered!
58. But first I need to distract that servo from chasing me down. The sight of garbage will no doubt engage it’s cleaning parameters.
59.
60. Jill, “You just let her get away. “ Gargamel, “She was smart. She ran while she could.” Jill, “You know. I could kill her. No one would ever suspect a thing. It’d look like a heart attack.”
61. Gargamel, “No. I’ll take care of it.” Jill, “Why?” Gargamel, “Killing the girl wouldn’t be right.”
62.
63. Gargamel, “Hello? Jeannie?” Jeannie, “Yes, this is her.” Gargamel, “It’s me. I need to ask a favor from you.” Jeannie, “Is this the favor that got me in college?” Gargamel, “No. This matter is too small to cover that. Let’s just say I’ll owe you a small favor while you still owe me a big one.” Jeannie, “Alright fine. What do you need done?” Gargamel, “Do you know someone that is good at magic?” Jeannie, “Yea, why?”
64.
65.
66. Faye FayePie, “Uncle Chuck! I’m so glad to see you. Listen, it’s important that you listen to me.” Chuck, “Oh hey, Faye Faye! Just the person I was looking for.” Faye Faye, “Huh?”
67.
68. Chuck, “Sorry Faye Faye, but whatever it is that you need to tell me, I don’t have time to hear. I was told you’re going to be spreading some really bad rumors and the only way to make you stop is to get you to forget about it. Permanently. There won’t be too much brain damage. I think.”
