The document summarizes a social media implementation toolkit called "frank/inside". It provides a 5-phase methodology for organizations to implement social media along with downloadable tools. The phases include visioning, assessing readiness, taking action, launching the initiative, and ongoing measurement. The toolkit aims to help organizations overcome technical, cultural, and organizational challenges to social media adoption. It is targeted at business leaders, IT teams, and those interested in measuring social media's impact on their organization.
The document lists several upcoming special events in Maui County related to environmental protection and conservation, including Earth Day events in April 2008, the Maui County Fair, a Hawaii Conservation Conference in July 2008, and environmental tours on several cruise ships visiting Maui to discuss topics like stranded seabirds, recycling programs, and new technologies being implemented on ships. It expresses gratitude for positive relationships developed with cruise lines to establish programs helping conservation efforts and thanks one cruise line for hosting a luncheon celebrating Maui County's environmental protection efforts.
The document summarizes the Community Work Day Program's efforts around the 2008 International Year of the Reef in Maui County. It describes the creation of a task force to plan activities, the adoption of a theme, various meetings and events held, including the mayor proclaiming 2008 as the International Year of the Reef in Maui County. It highlights education stations set up at Pu'u Keka'a and Maui Ocean Center with the help of volunteers to educate the public about protecting coral reefs.
The document summarizes the events of the IYOR Reef Night event. It lists the various presenters, performers, award winners, and activities that occurred throughout the event, including a fashion show, invasive species cook-off contest, poster contest winner announcements, and graduate recognitions. The event was hosted at the Maui Ocean Center and involved contributions from many community members, sponsors, and the Mayor's office staff to make it a successful evening celebrating reef conservation.
This is the presentation by Dr. Rob Toonen of Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, "What is Connectivity and Why Should you Care?" given during the Spring 2011 session of Ocean Awareness Training on Maui.
The document discusses seven essential questions for student leaders to consider in order to lead effectively. It addresses the importance of having direction, mentoring others, connecting with followers, planning strategically, listening, empathizing with others, and continuing self-improvement and development of other leaders. The overall message is that great leadership is defined by how the leader guides and inspires others rather than their individual accomplishments alone.
UNICEF, the Millenium Villages Project, and others from the Open Mobile Consortium are using RapidSMS, an Open Source framework for building SMS-based applications, to support NGO health care and disaster relief operations in Africa.
Over 1,700 bags were distributed to various shops and markets on Maui and Molokai thanks to members of an invasive species task force and expert baggers including the Mayor and a Council Member. A spearfishing tournament in July 2008 targeted invasive fish species like roi and over 200 were caught, saving over 31,000 reef fish annually. An IYOR event on Lanai in November distributed native plants and encouraged the use of reusable bags despite some members of the task force missing the boat.
The document discusses a planning meeting to discuss water quality monitoring and coral reef protection efforts in Ka'anapali, Maui. It introduces representatives from organizations involved in these efforts and outlines an agenda covering turbidity monitoring, the Kahekili Herbivore Fisheries Management Area, ongoing research, and opportunities for community involvement in monitoring. The goal is to brainstorm how to strengthen the Ka'anapali Makai Watch program through increased education, outreach, and volunteer monitoring activities.
An amazing and incredible solution to restore the bodies blood circulation and bio energy, without resorting to medications, exercises or special techniques. This pendant is created using nano technology and modern science.
Open Historical Maps: Crowdsourcing, Open Source GIS, and the Research WebSchuyler Erle
This document discusses using crowdsourcing and open source tools to bring geography back into humanities research. It describes several existing tools like Zotero for capturing citations, NYPL Map Rectifier for georeferencing historical maps, and OpenStreetMap for collaborative mapping. The document advocates applying best practices from collaborative projects like Wikipedia, such as public editing, identity profiles, revision history, and change tracking to build "Open Historical Maps". The goal is to create structured schemas for users to collaboratively annotate maps, resolve disputes, and disambiguate geographic and temporal information.
Making Weather Connections: From Science to Common Sense, and Public Lethargy...Barry Wellar
Weather-related issues are of increasing public interest but much more effort is needed to close the gap between the perception of weather as science and of weather as common sense. In 2006 the Canadian Association of Geographers played a lead role in international Geography Awareness Week (GAW) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day. A key theme for 2007 is to demonstrate to Canadians throughout the country how geography affects the formation of weather systems; how weather systems are affected by geography; and how geography and weather systems combine to affect transportation systems, emergency services, water quality, energy supplies and consumption, public safety, garbage disposal, economic activity - even the quality of air that we breathe.
This presentation briefly explores how meteorologists and oceanographers can join forces with geographers to turn aspects of our sciences into common sense concepts, and thereby accelerate the process of converting public lethargy about the weather and our shared climate into public and political activism.
Awareness and usage of social networks is high in Europe, with 98% aware of at least one network and 73% as members of at least one. Emerging markets like Brazil and India have even higher rates of social network penetration. Facebook is the dominant social network in Europe, though other large networks like Twitter and LinkedIn also have significant reach. Smaller networks face challenges growing due to people's reluctance to join new networks or increase their memberships.

1) A Bose-Einstein condensate is a state of matter where a large number of bosonic particles occupy the lowest quantum state, first predicted by Bose and Einstein in 1924-1925.
2) Biological tissues like muscles and cell membranes can achieve a Bose-Einstein condensate state at body temperatures due to their high degree of order, allowing long-range coherence through mechanisms like resonant energy transfer.
3) This coherence allows efficient energy and information coupling throughout living systems to enable their coordinated functioning as a whole.

(2014)Kennisnet
Presentatie Over Gepersonaliseerd leren (korte stand van zaken Doorbraakproject Onderwijs & ICT)
Over diverse initiatieven. Vernieuwingsscholen die proberen zo goed mogelijk maatwerk te leveren. Diverse aanbieders van content of platforms.
Presentation on inclusive educational policy 'passend onderwijs,' to students on the Master in Education Studies, University of Groningen. Presented on 11 October 2010 by Dr. Ernst Thoutenhoofd (Dutch language).

Onderwijsvernieuwing?
8. Ontwikkeluitdagingen
1. Opleiding ontwikkelt een eigen
onderwijskundige visie vanuit het vakgebied
2. Technologie / IT architectuur faciliteert
opleidingen in samenwerking / kennisdeling
3. Mixed mode onderwijs: rollen docent?
4. HR als integraal onderdeel van de stad
Rotterdam
Rene Slootweg - 11 juni 2013
9. Onderwijskundige visie?
• ROM
– is slechts een kader, waarbinnen pedagogisch didactische
ruimte gecreëerd kan worden door docenten
• Uitdaging
– Opleiding = team van experts op het vakgebied
(inhoud opleiding) die het samenspel van
complexe vaardigheden in onderwijs ontwerpen
(didactiek opleiding), doordacht gebruikmakend
van beschikbare technologie (ondersteuning
onderwijs)
Rene Slootweg - 11 juni 2013
10. Technologie? Een paradigma shift!
• ICT systeem is vanuit een administratief
paradigma georganiseerd
• Uitdaging: hoe van administreer naar
faciliteer te gaan
Van information based naar problem based
• ICT voorziet in deze behoefte via sociaal
platform (open EN gesloten)
Rene Slootweg - 11 juni 2013
11. Mixed mode onderwijs
• Nu soms pseudo blended learning
Uitdagingen
• Welk model van blended learning kies je?
• Welke rollen zijn in het ontwerpen en
ontwikkelen van onderwijs betrokken?
• Welke ondersteuning is hierbij nodig?
• Professionaliseringsvraagstuk?

13. Professionalisering (1)
• Docent in ontwikkeling
– Beginnend als expert vakgebied (inhoud op orde,
beginnend docent)
– Groeiend naar ervaren docent (onderwijskundig
doordacht ontwerp, inhoud actueel)
– Expert docent (onderwijskundig zwaargewicht
met inhoudelijk overview over opleiding)
Rene Slootweg - 11 juni 2013
14. Professionalisering (2)
• Als we voor ‘mixed mode’ onderwijs kiezen:
– doordachte modelkeuze blended learning
– doordachte rol technologische ondersteuning
• Rollen onderwijsontwikkeling:
– Docent is vakinhoudelijk expert
– Instructional designer ook een docent?
– Visual designer / technical developer
– IT support (ondersteuners)
Rene Slootweg - 11 juni 2013
15. Ontwerp modellen BL
Huidige situatie:
• Lone ranger: individuele idealist, eigen tijd, buiten het
systeem om
• Boutique: on demand ondersteuning technologie,
geen onderwijskundig support
Toekomstige situatie:
• Collegiaal: learning objects, uitwisseling
kenniscomponenten in / over opleidingen
• Project management: project based, meerdere
rollen/experts actief, productontwikkeling
Rene Slootweg - 11 juni 2013
16. Ideeën en kansen
• HCD: Human Centered Design proces
– co-design onderwijs
– docent – student ontwikkelen onderwijsomgeving
– samenwerking met ontwerpers en developers
• Design-based research
– ontwikkel en onderzoek aanpassingen in onderwijs iteratief
– onderwijsomgeving is onderzoekomgeving,
– docent = change agent
• TELL-HR
– Technology Enhanced Learning Lab – HR
– platform, kennisuitwisseling HR en omgeving
– fysieke onderzoekomgeving (klaslokaal?)
