Octavio Luna letter of recommendation
1. April 17, 2016
To whom it may concern:
It is my pleasure to write a brief letter of recommendation for my colleague Octavio Luna Rodriguez.
I have known Octavio for 6 months during my time at the Chemours Altamira Plant in the same
workgroup on a large project. Though we have worked closely on technical issues only on a limited
number of occasions, I can attest to Octavio’s characteristics through my frequent interactions with him,
both professional and personal.
In his current role, Octavio was put in a very challenging situation – to backfill for a person who had left
the company during the later stages of a large project. Octavio has worked very hard, applying his
technical, computer, and personal skills in trying to learn a new program and computer software system
and to meet the needs of the project. I have watched him focusing himself to learn this new system, but
always with a cheerful and optimistic disposition.
On one occasion, Octavio and I were discussing a technical challenge he was trying to solve. I suggested
that he contact one of my colleagues in the U.S. whom I knew to be an expert on this subject. Without
any hesitation, Octavio reached out to my other colleague by email, asking questions to help him solve
his issue. Octavio’s willingness to network with others to get the job done is an asset to him.
Octavio has always been friendly to me and others and is always eager to provide assistance to others.
On several occasions, Octavio went out of his way to help me, a visiting engineer and consultant, to
obtain the computing resources which I need to do my job effectively at Altamira.
Lastly, Octavio’s English language skills rank high among the Altamira employees with whom I have
worked. Octavio speaks enthusiastically with me about English, asking about words and phrases to gain
a better understanding my language. Likewise, he has generously helped me with my Spanish at the
same time. His passion for learning and self-improvement have always impressed me.
From what I have seen, I believe that Octavio will be a valuable asset to any organization first for his
technical and computer skills, second for his enthusiasm for learning new things, and thirdly for his
ability to work well in a team environment.
Sincerely,
Andrew Coombe
