1. Solve 3m - n = k: for m
2
1. Multiply each side by 2: 3m - n = 2k
2. Add n to each side: 3m = 2k + n
3. Divide each side by 3: m = 2k + n

Warm-Up:
2. Solve 6 - ay = 4(a - b): For a Analyze first:
1. Distribute: 6 - ay = 4a - 4b
2. Add ay to each side: 6 = 4a - 4b + ay
3. Add 4b to each side: 6 + 4b = 4a + ay
4. Important Point: The opposite of distributing is factoring.
We can factor out what the two terms have in common.
We now have: 6 + 4b = a(4 + y)
5. Last Step: 5. Divide each side by (4 + y):
6. Solution: 6 + 4b = a
4 + y
