This document describes the occupations that make up the author's occupational identity. It discusses how working on a farm, caring for dogs, craft making, camping, baking, French culture, adventure seeking, being an occupational therapy student, hanging out with friends, and family have all influenced who the author is. The author sees these occupations as integral parts of their sense of self and occupational identity.

1. OCCUPATIONS THAT MAKE
UP MY OCCUPATIONAL
IDENTITY.

2. WORKING ON THE FARM
Growing up I had always lived in town,
but in my last two years in high school
I moved onto a farm where I helped
feed and look after the farm animals. I
never realised that working and living
on the farm was part of my sense of
self until I began to live in Dunedin
where there are no farm animals.
Working and living on the farm

3. DOGS
I love dogs, I couldn’t imagine not caring for
them. All my life I have grown up with a
dog, feeding them, brushing them, taking
them for walks. I would describe myself as a
dog person, as I couldn’t imagine not
having a dog/dogs in my life.

4. CRAFT MAKING
I like to make crafts, especially for
other people. I feel as though I can
express what things I like and show
part of myself through the things I
create.

5. CAMPING
Camping has always been something
I have done especially when I was
younger. I was in scouts when I was
10 to 12 years old, we went camping
all the time and there I learned
survival skills, how to put up a tent,
how to tie knots and how to cook.
Through camping I felt as though I
belonged to a group, it also made
me learn new skills that I will always
carry with me today.

6. BAKING
Although I am not good at
baking (Didn’t make the cupcake
in this photo) doing it makes me
feel part of the family with my
brother and dad being a chef and
my grand-dad being a baker.
Baking makes me feel close like I
have a close connection with my
other family members.

7. EVERYTHING FRENCH
Half of my family is French, it is a
huge part in my identity.
Everything French including the
language, the food, and the
culture has been an influential
factor in my identity, all of these
French occupations makes me
feel whole, it makes me feel
connected to my family.

8. ADVENTURE
I love giving new occupations a
go, such as these adventure
seeking occupations. I loved the
thrill of the cannon swing as you
can see from the photo
I loved the adrenaline from these
activities and going out of my
comfort zone, it almost made me
feel more confident as I wanted
to try new activities.

9. BEING AN OCCUPATIONAL
THERAPY STUDENT
Being an occupational therapy
students I feel has made a big
impact on my occupational
identity. I describe myself as an
occupational therapy student
because now it is who I am.
Through being an occupational
therapy student I have learned so
much about myself and others

10. HANGING OUT WITH FRIENDS
My friends are the one’s who help
shape who I am, they introduce
me to new occupations and help
me to reflect on who I am as a
person. It is through them that I
know what kind of person I want
to become, helping to shape my
identity.

11. FAMILY My family is a big part of my life, they have influenced
who I am today. Being a granddaughter, a daughter, a
sister, a cousin, a niece every member of my family has
played a part in shaping who I am.
