This document shows trends in obesity rates among U.S. adults from 1985 to 2010 based on data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Over this period, the percentage of adults with a body mass index of 30 or higher, which indicates obesity, increased across the United States. The maps provided show categories of obesity rates among states rising over time, with more states falling into higher rate categories like 20-24% and 25-29% by the end of the period.
