Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin Required for
vision, repair, reproduction, growth and tissue
differentiation.
This occurs in two forms, as retinol in animal
foods and as b-carotene in plant food.
Carotene is converted into retinol in the
intestine, which is then absorbed and stored in
the liver .
NATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR CONTROL OF
BLINDNESS WAS LAUNCHED IN 1970.
