3. Subcutaneous Fluids to a Kitten
Administering a 30 mL bolus amount of Lactated
Ringers Solution to a kitten over the shoulder region. A 25 gage
needle is being used to administer the fluids.
5. Intramuscular Injection to a Cat
I am giving a mixture of 2.5 mg of Ketamine, 0.03 mg of
Dexdormitor, and 0.7 mg of Nalbuphine in the same syringe IM
to a cat. I am using the gluteal muscles and have a 26 gage
needle X ¾” new needle. I am placing the cat’s hind quarters in
a squatting position to expose the gluteal muscle for easier
injection. The sedation drug stings when it goes into the
patient, therefore, I am scruffing the cat and placing pressure on
its body with my forearm.

the cephalic vein. My supplies are: catheter, cap, triple antibiotic

19. Cystocentesis
I am performing a cystocentesis on a cat using a 22
gauge X ¾” needle attached to a 3 mL syringe. The needle is
retained in its original cap and I used a cotton ball soaked in

the bladder.
