Hello, and welcome to my very first Apocalypse Challenge known as Nothing But Blue Skies.
After much time thinking about what I wanted to do with my sims, I decided to take on something
challenging. What could be more challenging than an Apocalypse, which was created by Pinstar,
himself?
Because I have all the Expansion Packs, I will be playing by all of those rules. I've made a list of
all the restrictions in the order that I am going to lift them. I would like to thank Seera and
lorinsv60 for helping me with this and for giving me advice. They are also brilliant legacy writers
and you should go check out their work. Lorin writes Romancing The Apocalypse and Seera
writes The Tortall Legacy. Both are great reads, which will keep you on the edge of your
seats.
Since this is my first Apocalypse Challenge, I may break a few rules accidentally. I will warn
everyone of that beforehand. I just ask that you do not viciously bite my head off if I do break
them. Please inform me in a respectful manner so that I can be sure not to do it again.
Constructive Criticism is also welcome. If you believe that I could improve on something, don't be
afraid to tell me! I just ask that you don't be rude about it. If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is
rudeness.
A general naming theme has been set for this Apocalypse as well. I've decided to name the sims
after different shades of blue. The reason for this being is because to me the color blue
symbolizes peace and tranquility and that is what we are striving for in the Apocalypse.
I suppose I could get started with introducing the lovely founder who is lifted above, but first I
want to go back to how this all began.
Luna sat across her best friend and fellow boolpropian, Seera. For the past few weeks, she'd
been suffering from headache after headache struggling to decide what she wanted to do with
her sims. She wanted something challenging that people would remember her for. She knew that
she wasn't as good of a writer as the others who frequented the boolprop forums and most of her
works tended to die before they could get far enough.
She figured that perhaps the reason for this was because they weren't challenging enough. She
needed something that would keep people interested and wanting more. Everyone seemed to
enjoy Apocalypse Challenges. Why not try one of them out? But there was the fact of so many
rules and restrictions, plus who to choose as the Founder. She told Seera of this idea hoping that
her friend would support her.
Seera had watched her friend, Luna struggle day after day for something that would interest other
people. That was one thing Seera liked about her friend, she always seemed to think of others
before herself. She was glad when Luna had offered to let her move in with her.
"It seems like a good idea to me," Seera said supportively. "Before you decide on a Founder, you
should look at the rules first to decide on which restrictions you want to lift first," she suggested.
"But if I were you, I'd lift the more important restrictions first and then deal with the less
important."
2. Luna beamed with excitement, glad that one of the people she admired on boolprop supported
her idea and was willing to help her. She stood up and brushed herself off.
"I'll be upstairs on the computer. After that, I'll need to meet you and Iris in the living room," she
said suddenly getting an idea.
Seera arched one of her eyebrows, but had no time to ask why she needed Iris for Luna was
already bolting up the stairs.
Luna turned on the computer and waited for everything to load before she accessed the internet
and typed in the URL for the Apocalypse Rules. She clicked on the set of rules she wanted to use
and began to read.
The further she read, the wider her eyes became. Even the rules had rules! What had Pinstar
been thinking when he came up with this challenge? She said a quick prayer that Pinstar would
not appear and strike her down for that little thought and pulled up Microsoft Word.
For a little over an hour, Luna began to list the restrictions she wanted to lift in order from most
important to least important. Finally, after an exhaustingly long time, she finished and printed out
everything she would need.
Meanwhile, Seera and Iris were downstairs waiting patiently for Luna to return.
"So, she wants to do an Apocalypse Challenge?" Iris asked staring at her mother in
bewilderment.
"Yes, she does," Seera clarified.
"But why? You know how fast all of her works die," Iris said skeptically. "This one is just going to
die like all of the others."
"I wish you would be more supportive of Luna," Seera scolded. "It is not her fault that all of her
works have died. She's had to deal with many game bugs and glitches in the past and corrupted
neighborhoods. I have faith in her. She'll be able to pull this off."
"Whatever you say, Mom," Iris said, but she still wasn't convinced.
Finally, Luna came downstairs and sat down in the chair across from them. She noticed the
expression of skepticism on Iris's face and laughed.
"I'm assuming from the look on your face, Seera has already told you about the Apocalypse
Challenge I'm going to be doing. I guess you have every right to be doubtful."
Seera interrupted. "You should really be a little more positive. You're a great writer. I enjoy your
works, even if they do end up dying a little early. It's not your fault though. Your game just sucks
sometimes."
Luna shook her head, but secretly thanked whichever deity was listening at the time for such a
3. good friend like Seera.
"Anyways, The reason I wanted Iris here was because I wanted her as the founder."
There was a moment of silence before Seera exploded.
Seera glared at Luna before she glanced at her daughter. "There is no way I'm going to allow you
to use Iris as the founder! Have you lost your mind? Why not ask someone else to do it? Anyone
else would do, but not my daughter! I won't allow her to suffer!"
Luna had been expecting something like this from Seera, who had always been a little
overprotective of her adoptive daughter. It must've come with being a Family Sim. Luna also
seemed to worry about Iris as well, but because she, herself, was a Romance Sim, she didn't
worry as much.
"Listen, I understand your concern, but think about it. Iris is right for the job. She's very intelligent,
she's a hard worker despite all of her complaints, she's good at a lot of things, she has a unique
beauty that not a lot of sims have. You can't hold onto her forever. I know you wish that you
could, but don't you want her to go to college and find the man of her dreams? Come on, what do
you say?" she asked sticking out her lower lip and pretending to pout.
Iris, who had been quiet for the most part, finally spoke up.
"As skeptical as I am, I want to do this. I know I won't be in sim heaven with this, but as Luna
said, I'd get to meet quite a few people and I would be able to take part in something that could
help Strangetown. Please, Mom. I want to do this. Think about it, Luna could be an evil bint and
dump me on a college lot without any warning then spring the Apocalypse on me afterwards, but
she's not. She's preparing us for it."
Seera hated it when the two of them seemed to gang up on her. She threw her hands up in the
air in defeat. "I still don't like it, but fine," she said in exasperation before rounding on Luna.
"You'd better make sure she stays safe and doesn't suffer an early death," she threatened.
Luna was relieved that her friend finally agreed to allow Iris to help. She stood up.
"I have something to give you, Iris," she said reaching underneath the couch and pulling out a
giftbox wrapped in white paper with a red bow tied around it.
"What is it?" Iris asked shaking the present and hearing a faint rattling sound.
"It's a small earpiece and a camera in the form of a pen. We'll be able to see everything you are
doing. This way, we can help you out whenever you need it."
Iris was speechless. "Wow, thanks," she said putting the box in her nearly limitless inventory.
4. Luna then reached into her pocket and pulled out the rules. There is this too. It'll help you with the
Apocalypse challenge," she said. "It's the list of rules and the restrictions you should lift first."
Iris skimmed over it. "Suddenly I'm not so sure of this," she muttered.
Luna chuckled and patted her on the shoulder. "You'll do fine. Seera and I will be there to help
you every step of the way."
Iris nodded before looking down at her mother who had been quiet the entire time and fighting
back tears.
Seera stood up and threw her arms around her daughter squeezing her tightly. Iris shook her
head in amusement before returning the hug. After a few minutes, Iris tried to pull out of Seera's
iron grip, but with no success.
"Mom, I can't breathe!" she cried nearly choking. She should have known this would happen.
Luna was forced to intervene and pull the two of them apart. Seera wiped her tears away and
smiled wobbly. "Please promise that you'll at least call us," she said in a shaky voice.
"I will," Iris said. That was one promise she planned on keeping.
Iris walked over to the phone hanging on the wall and dialed the number for La Fiesta Tech. After
a brief interview, she was ready to begin her college life.
Luna patted Seera reassuringly on the leg before she went upstairs to go set the camera up on
the computer leaving Seera to gather her thoughts.
She's my little girl, Seera thought. But this was going to happen someday. Luna is write. It is time
for Iris to spread her wings and fly. She'll be just fine.
Seera smiled faintly before she got up and walked upstairs to help Luna.
The ride to La Fiesta Tech was a rather long one. When Iris arrived, she grew up in a pink halter
top and a pair of black jeans. She'd read legacies where sims grew up in horrid clothing such as
plaids and stripes. This wasn't too bad.
"Testing, testing," said a familiar voice in her ear. "Can you hear us?"
"Mom? Is that you?" Iris asked.
"Yes, Luna is here as well. Although she's having a coniption over the pink top."
"Pink is an evil color along with orange!" Luna bellowed causing Iris to wince at the loud
volume.
Don't pay attention to her. You look great, honey," Seera said supportively while Luna
5. grumbled. "But, to keep Luna from having a seizure one too many times, after this semester,
please be sure to buy something new to wear."
Iris all of a sudden had the urge to rip out the earpiece, but refrained from doing so. "Fine fine,"
she sighed in frustration.
Iris went out on her first evening at college. She figured that she should get started early on that
twenty best friends want. Being perma-plat would help her get promoted a bit more easily and it
provided her with something to do. She figured that she could also look for her potential spouse
as well. There were plenty of things she needed to do while in college and finding the write
husband was one of them.
The bartender was rather cute, but he didn't have any of her turn ons and she needed someone
who did something other than bartending for a living.
