James notes in Chapter 1 that enduring trials by turning to Christ builds faith and will lead to receiving the crown of life. He admits to struggling with anger but believes he has grown, being quicker to speak now than a few months ago. In Chapter 3, he notes harboring envy and ambition have been a struggle, but he is growing, as shown by his offer of $200 to Mary's mom with no strings attached.

2. Chapter 1
•2-4: When we face trials from the enemy or the world it is
building up our faith in Christ especially when we turn to Him.
12: When we endure through trials and hardships we will one
day receive the crown of life.
19: This is a major challenge for many Christians; and I am do
different in that I want to be quick to speak and give into anger. I
will admit at this: I am much better then a few months ago. So
clearly I am growing.

3. Chapter 3
•14: Do not harbor bitter envy or selfish
ambition in your heart. This seems like a
struggle for me in my walk so far; but at
the same time I am growing. The fact that I
would offer $200 to Mary’s mom; no
strings attached shows that I am maturing
in my faith.
