National Game
Volleyball is an important game to our country as it is the
national game in Sri Lanka. According to historical records,
birth of the Volleyball was in New York, and the Name
William G. Morgan has been carved in the pages of proud
history as the father of Volleyball.
He has gone down the history of the sport as the inventor of
Volleyball game, but the Volleyball was not the name
inherited to Volleyball by his father, it was “Mintonette” . This
game has been landed to Sri Lanka in 1916 by R. W. Camack.
At present the main governing body of Volleyball in Sri
Lanka is Sri Lankan Volleyball Federation.
