Marche & Emilia A hands-on cooking experience: already tried passatelli? Gadis Tourist Service
Discover the secrets of Le Marche & Emilia, perhaps the most picturesque regions of Italy, and the water mouthing cuisine of central Italy. A journey through tradition... from the art of cooking to Rossini's music, from Medieval castels to the Renaissance courts of Montefeltro and Malatesta. Admire its art, walk among small intimate villages to experience their life style, and taste local products. Immerse yourself in the unique natural landscape of the Marche region, which has even touched American actor Dustin Hoffman's heart, now a worldwide spokesperson for Le Marche region.
Known as the 'Mezzogiorno', the Italian south is a fascinating mix of Greek, Norman, Arab, French and Spanish influences. With a history significantly different from that of the north, this half of what was once the Kingdom of the two Sicilies has seen greater misery but also periods of extraordinary splendour and cultural ambition which have left abundant traces throughout the regions of Puglia, Basilicata, Campania and Abruzzo.
From the flatlands of Puglia with thousand year old olive trees and magical clusters of the strange conical houses known as 'trulli', through the fascinating area of Matera known as the 'sassi' where the population lived in caves until recent times, then to Paestum and the lovely seaside resort town of Sorrento, visiting, Pompeii and onto the towering mountains of the Abruzzo - perhaps Italy's last frontier with it's inaccessible hilltowns and forests still providing refuge to wolves and bears. You will be constantly reminded that there is no other place that matches the cultural richness of Italy.

An Itinerary Created by Cynthia Venables
“I hope you will join us on this journey to the waterways and lakes of the
enchanted world of Venetian canals and lagoons, Palladian villas and Italian
Alpine lakes on a request to recreate the tour that was so enjoyed by a small
group in 2013. We will spend four days exploring the art, architecture and
hidden corners of Venice before we move on to the frescoes of Padua, the
Palladian World Heritage Sites of the Veneto and finally the incredible beauty of
the three great Italian lakes, Gorda, Como and Maggiore with their exceptional
gardens. We finish our journey at tiny Lake Orta very near the French border
taking lots of time to enjoy the food and wine along the way. We will have a
Sunday sampling of Prosecco, the great Italian bubbly of the Veneto while
traveling among historic villas and hillside vineyards. A few days later we make
our way through Switzerland and beautiful Lugano on the final leg of our journey westward following the sunsets. This
small group tour (max. 12 people) allows us to travel by small mini-coach and ferry, stopping at unique restaurants and
staying in wonderful smaller four star hotels selected for their location and convenience. Local guides will introduce us to
their region. As your tour manager I will weave each experience together to give you a sense of the whole beautiful picture
of these three unique regions. There will be four introductory evenings at my home and PDF learning programmes a few
months before we leave to introduce you to the history, art and architecture that you will experience. This will be a trip of a
lifetime where one beautiful day unfolds after the other in the magic world of Northern Italy. ~ Cynthia
