    A PowerPoint Presentation by
          Ms. Darenberg
I chose to read this book because I am interested
in space. I like to watch TV shows about the solar
system. Also, I enjoy reading books about people
who travel to outer space.
 Being weightless
 Eating in space
 Getting dressed
 Exercising and sleeping
 Working and playing
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to
live in space? In many ways, it is the same as
living on Earth. People in space eat, sleep, and
celebrate birthdays. They also drink floating blobs
of juice and never drop anything on their toes.
This book answers many questions about what
life in space is like.
 Fact One: In space, everything is
weightless, because there is very little gravity.
Even your hair is weightless! If you have long
hair, it floats around your head.
 Fact Two: When water is added to the dried
foods that astronauts eat, the food becomes
sticky, so it will stay on the spoon and not float
    away.
 Fact Three: In space, the sun rises every 90
minutes, so astronauts wear black sleep masks
to keep the sun out of their eyes.
 Fact: Voices are almost the only things that are not
changed by being weightless in space.
 Although astronauts celebrate their birthdays in
space, the party would be different than it would
be on Earth. For example, the cake would be
floating in front of you and you couldn’t cut it
unless it was fastened down. Also, you can’t light
candles, because it would be dangerous. It’s
interesting to me that the only thing that would be
the same is that your friends could still sing
    “Happy Birthday.”
 Word: Module
Definition: part of a spaceship that can operate on
its own or as part of the larger ship
 Word: Weightless

 Word: Pressurized

Definition: made to keep air in a sealed
environment such as a spacesuit
 Word: Orbit
Because I am interested in space, I will use the
information I learned to help me understand
topics that are discussed on the TV shows I watch
about space. Also, I might choose to read science
fiction in the future because I liked reading about
space.
This book did a good job of teaching me about
living in space.

The book discussed several topics that described
what life is like in space. It compared like in space
to life on Earth, so I learned how the two were
different.
I would like to learn how people are chosen to
live in space.

This book does not explain how people become
astronauts. I know you have to be an astronaut to
go to and live in space, so it would be fun to learn
how someone gets a job as an astronaut.
I enjoyed this book. It included lots of interesting
details about life in space and taught me
information I did not know.

I would recommend this book to someone else
who is interested in space. This book explains the
different aspects of life in space, so I’m sure there
is something interesting to learn in this book for
anyone who wants to read about space.
