This document discusses using The Master Genealogist (TMG) to track non-person "people" such as places, ships, and organizations and their relationships with people. It provides examples of how to create custom roles and tag types to link people to these non-person entities, such as linking a person to their place of residence, immigrant ship, or marriage location like a church. Standards are suggested for identifying the type of non-person entity, naming conventions, and default settings.

3. Custom Tag Types Why create a new tag type?
