noise pollution
1.
2. Sound is essential to our daily lives,
but noise is not.
Noise is an unwanted sound, or a sound
which produces unpleasant effects.
Not all noise can be called noise pollution.
If it does not happen regularly, it may be
termed as 'Nuisance‘.
5. Scientists believe that it’s not only humans
who are affected.
Example:
◦ Water animals are subjected to noise by submarines
and big ships
◦ chain-saw operations by timber companies also
create extreme noise to animals in the forests
6. We measured noise multiple times in our
school using sound level meter
We measured sound in three places. This is
the average number of decibels:
◦ School canteen = 91 dB
◦ School Hall = 87 dB
◦ The classrooms near the road = 88 dB
Some are above the recommended decibels a
human should be exposed to 8h a day.
7.
8. We padded the doors so they would be sound
proof in the music and history classrooms
In the other classrooms we hanged signs that
say to keep it down.
9. Construction of soundproof rooms for noisy
machines in industrial and manufacturing
installations.
Use of horns with jarring sounds, motorbikes
with damaged exhaust pipes, noisy trucks are
to be banned.
Airports, bus and transport terminals and
railway stations should be sighted far from
living places.
