Dow Jones has been using JavaScript since 2010 and created tools like WSJ Real Time, WSJ Social, and WSJD Mobile to power their products. They developed FIVEBY, an open source framework, to standardize their development practices and allow easy deployment of Node.js applications on AWS using best practices like dependency injection and service-oriented architecture. FIVEBY provides sensible defaults and a small surface area to make development simple while leveraging many JavaScript libraries and being accessible to most web developers.
