An introduction into Node as a programming platform. This presentation introduces Node - its history, its architecture, the eco system of npm modules and tools and its place in the enterprise IT architecture and infrastructure. The Express framework is introduced, some core modules, the notion of asynchronous operations and the use of module async and of the ES6 Promises. Server Sent Events are introduced for a server to client push application. The interaction with MongoDB is demonstrated. The presentation contains many code samples.
