Stronsay Junior High School has implemented a no smoking policy for both indoor and outdoor areas of the school and nursery to promote the health of children, adults, and staff. The policy prohibits smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and electronic smoking devices on the premises. It also asks that parents, carers, visitors, and staff assisting with nursery trips refrain from smoking while in the company of children. The policy is in accordance with the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005.

No Smoking Policy
In order to promote the health of children, adults and staff, all areas of the Nursery and
Stronsay Junior High School both in and outdoor areas are designated as non-smoking.
We would ask staff, parents, carers and visitors that whilst on the premises to extinguish all
cigarettes, cigars, pipes. This includes the use of electronic smoking devices. We ask that you
observe all, “NO Smoking” signs.
This in line with The Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005 (Prohibition of
Smoking in Certain Premises) Regulations 2005.
Parents/ carers and helpers on nursery trips should also refrain from smoking whilst out on trips
or visits with the children.
