The book Mirror of History provides a comprehensive yet simple chronological history of Africa and the Bantu people's migration to Southern Africa. It examines their early relations with the Khoisan people and traditions of different Bantu nations. The book also breaks new ground by analyzing issues of racism, land ownership, and xenophobia in South Africa. The author Mashabela was born and educated in South Africa, teaching social sciences in various schools. He has a passion for history and is pursuing a law degree.

History of Xitsonga Speaking Tribes
This research is an uncensored history guide for lessons on Tsonga History. It gives an analysis of the historical movements and cultural significance of the Xitsonga-speaking people of southern Africa. The book is best suited for teaching and learning purposes. It also looks at commonly misinterpreted historical factors and offers an alternative view of looking at history. References are given where necessary in an effort to collect as much reliable information as possible, while linking these to oral traditions and local folklore in order to come to a better understanding of history. Sources were carefully analysed and those that correlate more with known traditions, oral history, and the praise poetry of the Xitsonga-speaking people are especially pointed out.

Applying a functionalist theoretical perspective, the study seeks to preserve the Tangle folklore tradition, document its aesthetic qualities, and bring attention to this understudied group. The results could provide insights into the Tangle people's origins, social norms, and worldview as conveyed through their oral stories and storytelling practices.

Cultural Placement
Every Culture varies from place to place depending on where you are in the world. It can change as much as a different culture from house to house. If a person is in a place for a certain amount of time, their identity can start to be formed from the different traditions and tendencies of that area. This will also affect the way people form relationships with others. Throughout this semester, searching for different ways to show this effect of location became pretty clear. This was represented through the book Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, and the article From Marseille to Mecca by Yahya Laayouni. Depending on the location of certain people, different cultures are developed and traditionalized within people’s lives. Each of these examples show a different area and era of time. This is important because no matter the time or place, culture is different and is represented in its own way.
The era in which Frankenstein was placed, was very interesting. This was the era of becoming slightly more modernized, however, people didn’t want change even though it was needed. The culture here in Europe during the early 1800’s was seriously harsh and way different than what we see today. “I collected the instruments of life around me, that I might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at my feet”(Shelley 56) This quote shows a good description of what their location was like when the Frankenstein was created.Shelley also uses words such as “cell”and “workshop of filthy creation”. These simple words can change the entire atmosphere that Frankenstein was around when created.The along with just atmosphere, the brain that Frankenstein had reciever, was already traditionalized to certain things. So, when he awoke, he had no idea where he was or how to act. Therefore, he was threatening and mistreated because of the culture of the people in their town. They attacked and tried to find him in order to keep their peace and culture.
Also, in Frankenstein, the identity of Victor is also altered by the surrounding and expected culture. People in the town think that he is crazy because he is going against the ways that they live by and is trying to be like God. This idea of secularism is becoming more and more common. Back then, people who were very secular were sentenced to death, simply because the traditions and culture were so ingrained that people didn’t want to stride away from it. Another example being in Things Fall Apart. They adopted son from a different culture was sentenced to die and the adopted father, okonkwo, was the one who had killed him. The culture they lived in, made the father go against every grain in his body and kill his son. “Dazed with fear, Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him down. He was afraid of being thought weak” (Achebe 61). This simply shows that the culture and Okonkwo’s role in the culture made him “cut down” his son. “Okonkwo did not taste any food f.

Trevor Noah was born in 1984 in South Africa during Apartheid to a white Dutch father and black Xhosa mother. As a mixed-race person, he was considered "coloured" but identified as black. He grew up speaking several African languages with his black relatives. Noah addresses issues of identity, language, and discrimination in his memoir Born a Crime. During Apartheid, South Africa enforced racial segregation and mixed relationships were illegal. Language was used to determine social status, education levels, and intelligence. By code-switching between languages, Noah was able to navigate different social situations and reduce the effects of racial discrimination, showing how language can act as a bridge across racial boundaries.
Living Liminality: A Study of Second Generation Immigrant Identity
The purpose of my ethnographic research is neither to diagnose one particular
socio-cultural experience among all second generation immigrants nor to decry the
concepts “transnationalism” and “transnationality” in favor of a new terminology that can
be universally applied to immigrants of both generations . My purpose is not, in other
words, to collapse real multiplicity into a single theory of second generation
transnationalism. Rather, I employ the ethnographic method as an exploratory tool, in
hopes of better understanding to what extent transnationalism and transnationality –
insofar as these terms indicate particular forms of trans-border social engagement and
subjectivity – are subject to generational transformation that may produce a vast array of
identities and modes of identification some (but not all) of which may be “transnational.”

He taught social sciences (history and geography) in all school grades beside grade 1-3. He says “I love history, geography, technology and more significantly, I love knowledge” Mashabela was born and educated in Limpopo South Africa, to be quite specific; he schooled in Tshweele Primary and Phutakwe Secondary School which are situated in the remote area of Sekhukhuneland. He then went to Johannesburg and eventually Pretoria where he enrolled in 2006 for a teaching degree. He is now doing his second degree with UNISA in the field of Law. “Ke Mphela a Morwakoma, a Monare, a Mohlabana.’ ‘Ke nna Kwena Mashabela” Translated “I am Mphela, the son of Morwakoma, son of Monare, son of Mohlabana”.
