The document discusses the potential for SURFnet to become a leader in wireless innovation by developing the "Wireless Campus of the Future". It argues that as wireless demands increase exponentially, campus networks provide an ideal testbed for challenging current wireless paradigms and developing new technologies like high-frequency radio and heterogeneous networks. The document suggests SURFnet transition from solely facilitating wireless access to becoming a true innovator in areas like spectrum policies and new wireless architectures.
The document discusses next generation trust infrastructures. It introduces Roland van Rijswijk-Deij and provides his contact information, including his email, LinkedIn profile, and Twitter account. It expresses the message that together trust can be made to work. The document shares sources for images but does not include any images. It focuses on introducing Roland and a message about collective effort in enabling trust.
Makerspaces allow users to learn skills like collaboration, product development, and problem-solving from an designer's perspective. They provide tools like 3D printers and electronics prototyping equipment. Makerspaces promote open-source sharing and building upon others' work to further innovation through hands-on creation. Students can gain experience in fields like user research, concept development, and innovation processes.
This document discusses sharing gadgets and widgets between portals. It proposes creating a centralized gadget repository that is open, community-based, moderated, and trusted. The repository would use standardized metadata and APIs to make gadgets discoverable. An experimental repository service called EDUKApp is introduced that runs on ATOM and other APIs. Next steps include improving the GUI, syndicating with other repositories, and integrating with the Apache Rave platform. The document also announces a hackathon event for developing OpenSocial gadgets with SURFnet experts.

Sprekers: Marianne Korpershoek, Ernst-Jan Louwers, Hub Martinussen
Cloud ICT in juridisch perspectief:
Waar zijn mijn data?
Wie is aansprakelijk voor datalekken?
What about privacy?
Hoe waarborg ik continuïteit?
In this project I had the opportunity to research the use and demand for a mobile policy under growing entrepreneurs and members of Port4Growth.
This resulted in a proposition policy that I constructed named; Mobile4Growth. It is an app that includes all the aspects and content that is mostly used by members and partners of Port4Growth.
The mobile evolution of the employee and student passSURFnet
The document discusses a new design for employee and student mobile passes that combines the functionality of SIM cards and smart cards. Key points:
- It proposes dividing the card into two parts, with one part storing mobile operator profiles and the other enabling smart card management functions.
- This would allow the mobile phone to serve as an interface for the pass while maintaining security features traditionally found in smart cards, like secure access to buildings and two-factor authentication.
- Using an eSIM rather than a physical SIM provides independence from mobile operators and makes the solution a long-term, sustainable investment. It also opens possibilities for additional secure applications on the device.

Welke nieuwe mogelijkheden biedt het SURFnet8-netwerk? Deel 2SURFnet
The document summarizes new technologies and potential services for SURFnet8, the next generation optical transport network of SURFnet. It describes how SURFnet8 will use new 100Gbps coherent optical technologies and flexible wavelength selective switching to improve on SURFnet7. Two potential niche services are also described: Alien Waves, which would bypass the service layer for direct customer connectivity and monitoring; and time and frequency transfer, to provide precise synchronization for sensor networks or as an alternative to atomic clocks. The document concludes with a brief survey about interest in further investigating these two potential new services on SURFnet8.

This document discusses using dedicated servers called data transfer nodes (DTNs) to improve data transfer speeds between research institutions. DTNs are part of a network architecture called a Science DMZ that optimizes high-speed transfers. The document recommends:
- Deploying high-performance DTNs with fast storage in a separate network zone dedicated to research data and services.
- Configuring lossless connections and security policies that don't impede transfers between DTNs and research networks.
- Educating IT departments on maintaining and supporting the infrastructure to improve end-user performance for data-intensive research collaborations.
