This document provides information about NewsMatch 2019, which is a fundraising campaign for nonprofit journalism run by the Institute for Nonprofit News. NewsMatch aims to strengthen local and investigative reporting by offering matching funds for donations made to participating nonprofit news organizations from November 1st to December 31st. The goals are to raise awareness of journalism's role in democracy, accelerate end-of-year giving, and help newsrooms build donor bases and community support. NewsMatch 2018 was very successful in raising funds and attracting new donors. NewsMatch 2019 will offer matching funds, new member bonuses, and goal-based bonuses to help newsrooms increase fundraising. Participants are encouraged to start planning and setting goals for their 2019 NewsMatch campaigns.
Year-end fundraising is critical in yearly fundraising, due to the fact that people are more generous and thankful. They are also more receptive to appeal for support. And it would be the last chance for them, or corporates to make tax-deductible gifts.
The slides show how to plan the year-end fundraising campaign and give out some tips for successful year-end fundraising.

Chive Charities has changed the giving paradigm. As opposed to using a cause to raise awareness and funds, Chive Charities uses the stories of individual grant recipients to raise awareness for the causes they support: veterans and first responders with medically-related needs and rare medical diagnoses.
2020 has turned the world upside down, leaving almost no business unscathed. Putting an emphasis on four key priorities, Chive Charities has found remarkable success - growing their community of support in a year that felt impossible to do so. Erika Carley, Chive Charities' Senior Director of Operations, will speak to our tech club about their work, their impact, and she will share insights regarding how to find growth in 2020 and beyond.
Last year, the number of #GivingTuesday gifts reached 3,600,000, with the dollar amount peaking at $400 million.
There is no question that people are making hefty contributions…but are they making these donations to your organization? And if not, why?
The truth is that while #GivingTuesday provides an opportunity to bring in large donations and expand your donor base, you should be aware of the challenges that come with making fundraising appeals during this popular event in order to be successful.
During Give by Cell’s webinar, we discussed how to handle:
* Stiff holiday competition
* The limitations of social media
* Converting one-time gifts in recurring donations

Convert Your Race Registrants into Lifelong Donorsrunsignup
The unique conditions of 2020 had one surprising result: while participation numbers in endurance events were down, the virtual nature of the events led to a significant increase of new events. In this Fundraising 411 webinar we discuss tips and tricks to keep your race participants connected with your organization beyond race day - and turn them into recurring supporters of your organization.
This webinar covers:
The benefits of turning race registrants into recurring supporters of your organization
Tactics for converting your event participants into life-long donors
Best practices for communicating with race participants from initial registration to race follow-up
How to provide additional opportunities for supporters to connect with your organization
Don’t let one-time participants disappear from your database. Learn how to build a year-round fundraising strategy to acquire life-long supporters for your organization.

Create key messaging and content
Run Facebook & Instagram ads
Dive into analytics and adjust
Webinar presented in Jan \'09 by Direct Response Solutions explores current trends in annual giving and examines ways to meet the challenges annual programs are facing in 2009.

WBUR’s BizLab is an innovation lab identifying and testing new revenue streams for public media. With funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Knight Foundation, we collaborate with public radio stations across the country on testing new ways of raising funds. In this session, WAMU’s DCist team, Louisville Public Media’s do502.com events team, and WBUR’s podcast team will share their learnings from user-centered experiments designed to convert their largely passive communities into active donors. We will break down each experiment into the questions they were designed to answer, get the audience to guess the outcomes, and then provide a recipe for how to replicate the success at a variety of nonprofit news organizations

In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.
