3) One volunteer remarked that people come to enjoy the forest's beauty, not graffiti, so it felt good to clean it up.
Postnatal Development Of Intestinal Microflora As Influenced By Infant NutritionBiblioteca Virtual
This document summarizes research on the development of intestinal microflora in infants during the first 6 months of life. It finds:
1) The microflora is initially composed of bacteria from the birth canal and environment that help establish an anaerobic environment.
2) Within a few days, the microflora is dominated by bifidobacteria and ruminococcus in breastfed infants, while formula-fed infants have a more varied composition.
3) Molecular analysis has revealed the earlier presence of some anaerobic bacteria like clostridia and bacteroides than previously thought.
This document summarizes a national survey of breastfeeding rates in US hospitals designated as "Baby-Friendly" in 2001. The survey found that Baby-Friendly hospitals had higher rates of breastfeeding initiation (83.8% vs national rate of 69.5%) and exclusive breastfeeding during hospital stay (78.4% vs national rate of 46.3%) compared to national averages. The 3 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding that were most difficult for hospitals to meet were paying for infant formula (Step 6), training staff (Step 2), and limiting formula marketing (Step 7). Overall, the results suggest that Baby-Friendly designation is associated with higher breastfeeding rates, regardless of hospital demographic factors.

This document summarizes a study that analyzed breastfeeding initiation rates among term and preterm infants in Massachusetts in 2002 using data from birth certificates. The study found that preterm infants were less likely to be breastfed than term infants, and the youngest preterm infants had the lowest rates of breastfeeding initiation. After controlling for confounding factors, non-US-born mothers of all races/ethnicities were more likely than US-born mothers to breastfeed preterm or term infants. Unexpectedly, US-born white mothers were less likely to breastfeed than US-born black mothers or mothers of other races/ethnicities.

The ethnologist observed an Aboriginal group stopping periodically on their journey for no apparent reason. Their souls take nourishment from beauty, knowledge, wisdom, community, justice, and fellowship.

The document is a slideshow created by Monette Danielle Ross as a personal journey of self-discovery, though she initially intended it to attract romantic partners. While it did not work for dating, over time it did become a lesson in self-reflection. The slideshow contains quotes and reflections on topics like personal growth, fear, creativity, and finding purpose and happiness from within rather than depending on external factors.

The document contains several poems on various topics:
1) The first three poems are about nature - a rose in bloom, the beauty of nature, and waves calling someone to the sea.

This document discusses the importance of our "belief box" which contains all of our beliefs about what is true, false, right, wrong, possible, and impossible. It argues that our beliefs both empower and limit us, and shares examples of how holding empowering beliefs allowed extraordinary people like Helen Keller to overcome limitations. It encourages regularly remembering empowering memories and beliefs stored in our "belief box" to keep them "fresh" and drive us positively in our work, relationships, parenting, and interactions with others. Filling our belief box with empowering beliefs, like Carl Sagan's quote that "something incredible is waiting to be known," can make incredible things possible in our own lives.
The song "Day 'n' Nite" by Kid Cudi describes the singer's lonely and repetitive lifestyle, where he struggles with stress and depression. At night, he smokes alone and tries to escape his inner darkness through drugs or partying. Although he is in a lot of pain, he keeps to himself and others are unaware of his suffering. When he puts on his "white Nikes," he is briefly able to slip away from his emotional pain and darkness.

After All These Years
For the most part
we’ve settled into ease,
you (wherever you are)
and my heart,
now I know there is
no thing unendurable.
Still, a gift exquisite:
the clear blue of winter’s sky,
a gliding heron,
How's That Go? snow on Fisher’s field
or a stab of sorrow:
How's that go? Please tell me again -
day darkening to night,
A broken heart in time will mend...
a lone bird’s call,
an ambulance keening
But, what do you do with all that time -
pulls,
How do you mend what's been lost?
provokes, “Oh Anne.”
Please ease my mind...
For Anne, born 1989
My heart's been broken, you'd never see
That's what it actually used to be...

there's just a hole in it's place, easy to find...

Gone
Without you in my life, I feel lost.
You were my guiding light.
Bright and Shining,
full of the future and the promise of a better day.
You gave me a sense of direction…a purpose…
a dream.
And for once in my life everything
made perfect sense.
Let It Rain
Then, like a thief in the night, you were gone.
And I am sitting here all alone in the darkness When the sun is shining and everyone's out
walking their dogs and kids all about,
Waiting…Waiting…Waiting… something inside me gets turned inside out.
Those are the days that I want to pout.
Waiting for all that hope and promise of a
better day to return back into my life. I find myself saying God please let it rain.
Send something my way to help ease the pain.
I am so lost without you.
I know it sounds selfish and what have I to gain.
I’ll always be searching and looking for your bright Some days the sun hurts me and I find comfort in
