ECONOMIC UPDATES
 The union cabinet is expected to clear a proposal to do away with the
distinction between different types of foreign investments through a
composite cap on all kinds of foreign investments. The aim is to attract
foreign investment by clearing ambiguity in the existing FDI policy related
to sectoral caps and conditionality.
 The Central Information Commission (CIC) has ordered the tax
department to make public certain information on the first batch of five
advance pricing agreements (APA) signed in India. India had initiated the
APA scheme in July 2012.
SEBI/CORPORATE UPDATES
 Market regulator SEBI may take action against companies who have not
appointed women directors on their boards to meet the requirements of
the new Companies Act. As per the provisions of the SEBI, BSE has till
date issued advisory letters to 530 companies regarding levy of fines for
non-compliance with the said provision within the prescribed timelines.
 Vide Notification No. SEBI/ LAD-NRO/GN/2015-16/006 dated July 15,
2015 notified Securities and Exchange Board of India (Issue and Listing of
Debt Securities by Municipalities) Regulations, 2015.
 SEBI has been speeding up its clearing process. The market regulator has
taken an of average 70 days to issue its final observations on the Draft Red
Herring Prospectus filed in the first half 2015.
RBI/TAX LAW UPDATES
 RBI sets up panel for action plan on financial inclusion. The 14-member
panel, to be headed by RBI executive director Deepak Mohanty, will review
the existing policy of financial inclusion, including supportive payment
system and customer protection framework taking into account the
recommendations made by various committees set up earlier.
 The tax department has launched an investigation against 90 companies
for possible evasion, money laundering and for converting Black Money
into "white" through a series of transactions in little-known shares,
commonly called Penny Stocks.
