The Associated Press (AP) is an American nonprofit news agency headquartered in New York City that is owned by contributing newspapers and broadcasters. As a cooperative, member organizations contribute stories to the AP and use material written by its journalists, who are represented by labor unions. The AP operates as the largest international news agency in the world.

2. NATIONAL AGENCIES OF PAKISTAN
ASSOCIATED PRESS OF PAKISTAN (APP)
APP is a government operated national news agency of Pakistan. The name APP
should not be confused with the much larger Associated Press news agency, based
in New York, though it is a subscriber to both AP and Reuters, based in London.
APP has News Exchange Agreements with 37 Foreign News Agencies and more than
500 correspondents.
The associated press of Pakisant started its life in 1947, after the partition the
Associated press of India was converted into Associated press of Pakistan by its
Lahore bureau. The government of Pakistan intervened and took over the agency
under an ordinance called “Association Press of Pakistan (taking over) ordinance
1961”, on 15th june 1961 to put it on a sound financial footing. The head office of
the agency shifted to Islamabad, the new capital of Pakistan.

3. PAKISTAN PRESS INTERNATIONAL (PPI)
Pakistan Press International is a news agency founded in June 1956 as Pakistan
press Association. The name was changed it 1968. It was first started by Mr.
Muzzam Ali, the chief editor of Associated Press of Pakistan. The agency
Objectives was to provide competition to APP’s monopoly. It began Its service by
hand, only Karachi. PPA is also built up network of correspondents in smaller
cities and network in Pakistan. This was in contrast to APP, which had coverage in
a limited number of large cities. For foreign news the agency signed up with the
agency France Press (AFP) in 1957, and a year later became the first Asian
partner of DPA. PPA also correspondents in the Middle East , an area of special
interest to Pakistani newspapers. In 1958 the agency installed the teleprinters in
offices of its client. By 1960, PPI had subscribers in all the major newspapers
centers of Pakistan, namely Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and dacca.

4. ASIA NEWS NETWORK (ANN)
The Asia News Network (ANN) is a network of 22 media
groups in Asian cities, organized to provide avenues for
cooperation and to optimize coverage of major news events
in the region.
ANN is headquartered at the offices of Nation of Multimedia
Group in Bangkok. In addition to a website, it produces a
weekly digital news magazine, called Asia News HD with
content from its members as well as magazine’s own staff.

5. NEWS NETWORK INTERNATIONAL (NNI)
News Network International (NNI) is a private-operated national
news agency of Pakistan. It is a Pakistan’s most prominent news
agency after Associated Press Of Pakistan (APP) and competitor of
INP, ANN, Online, INN, PPA and SABAH. It was established in 1992
and headquartered in G-7 zero point, Islamabad and also have
many offices in other major cities of Pakistan including Lahore,
Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta. It have hundreds reporters, bureau
chief all across and around the globe to cover national and
international issues. It provides services in both languages urdu
and English. In 2013 NNI photographer’s killed in a blast.

INP.net.pk is among the Pakistan leaders in online news and

and English.

DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA (PTI)
Press Trust Of India is a largest news agency in India. It id headquartered
in New Delhi and it is nonprofit cooperative among more than 500 Indian
newspapers and has more than 1000 full time employees as on January
22, 2016. It employs over 4000 journalists and 500 part time
correspondents located in the most of the district headquarters in the
country. A few correspondents are based in major capitals and important
business centers on the world. It took over the oprations of the
Associated Press from Reuters soon after Indian Independence on August
15, 1947. It provides news coverage and information of the region in both
English and Hindi. Its corporate office is located at Sansad Marg, New
Delhi and registered office in DN Road in Mumbai.

9. WAM (UAE)
The WAM was launched in November 1976. It started Arabic
broadcast on 18 June 1977 and English broadcast in
December 1978. The agency which is headquartered in Abu
Dabi is part of National Media Council.
The agency has English and Arabic news services and has
website in both languages. In addition to its national office
in Cairo, Beirut, Washington, Brussels and Islamabad.

10. BERNAMA (MALAYSIA)
The Malaysian National News Agency, abbreviated BERNAMA, IS the
news agency of government of Malaysia. It is an autonomous body
placed under the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia.
BERNAMA is an abbreviation Berita Nasional Malaysia. BERNAMA
also means named or title in the Malay language. It was set up by
an act of parliament in 1967 and stated work on 20 May 1968.
Being the Malaysian government’s official news agency, BERNAMA,s
content and views are decidedly right leaning and pro-government
of the day.

11. XINHUA (CHINA)
The XINHUA News Agency is the official press agency of People’s
Republic of China. XINHUA is the biggest and most influential
media organization in China. XINHUA is ministry level institution
subordinate to the Chinese Central Government. Its president is a
member of the central committee of China’s communist party.
XINHUA operates more than 170 foreign bureaus worldwide, and
maintain 31 bureaus in China. It has its own newspaper and a
dozen magazines which are printed in eight languages Chinese,
English, Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese and
Japanese.

AGENCE FRANCE-PRESS (AFP)
Agence France Press is an International new agency ,
headquartered in Paris, France. It is founded in 1944. AFP is
the third largest news agency of the world, after the
Associated Press (AP) and Reuters. Journalist of the French
Resistence established the AFP in the headquarter of the
former “Office Francais d’information”.
AFP transmits news in French, English, Arabic, Portuguese,
Spanish and German.

13. REUTERS
Reuters is an international news agency headquarter in Canary
Wharf, London, England and United Kingdom and is a division of
Thomson Reuters.
Until 2008, the Reuter news agency formed a part of an
independent company, Reuter Group plc, which was also provider
of financial market data. Reuters transmit its news in English,
French, Arabic, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian,
Japanese, Korean, Urdu and Chinese. It was established in 1851.

14. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS (AP)
The Associated Press is an American multinational nonprofit news
agency, headquartered in New York city that operates as a
cooperative, uni-corporated association. The AP is own by
contributing newspaper and radio and television station in the
United States, all of which contributes stories to AP and use
material written by its staff journalist. Most of the AP staff are the
union members and are represented by the newspaper Guild,
which operates under the communication workers of America,
which operates under the AFL-CIO.
