2. Neurological Disorders
ā¢ A neurological disorder (1)are the disorder of
the nervous system. It can be
structural, biochemical or electrical
abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord or
other nerves which can result in a range
of symptoms like paralysis, muscle weakness,
poor muscular coordination and loss
of sensation, seizure, confusion, pain
and altered levels of consciousness.
3. Causes
ā¢ Genetic disorders,
ā¢ Congenital abnormalities or disorders,
ā¢ infections, lifestyle or environmental
health problems
ā¢ malnutrition, and
ā¢ brain injury, spinal cord injury or nerve injury.
ā¢ Idiopathic i.e. When no neural cause can be
identified using current testing procedures.
4. Common
disorders
ā¢ Common neurological problems ā List is very
very long, few of them are like neuritis,
herpes, polio, ganglion, epilepsy, Parkinsonās
diseases, sclerosis, tetany, degenerative brain
disorders, etc. Other than that systemic
diseases can also cause neurological
complaints i.e. diabetes, hypertension,
arthritis, SLE, leprosy, gout, diphtheria,
tuberculosis, syphilis, etc.
5. Aggravating Factors
ā¢ Stress, Infection, inflammation, injury ,
compression disease, degenerative changes,
de-myelination, loss of blood supply which
leads to vascular diseases obstruction, toxins
foods , drugs , pesticides or dyes or glues or
metal powders ,poisons ,addictions,
exhaustion, sleeplessness, alcoholism,
smoking malnutrition, exposure to extreme
temperatures, etc.
6. Aggravating Factors
ā¢ The World Health Organization estimated in
2006 that neurological disorders and
their consequences affect as many as one
billion people worldwide, and
identified health inequalities and social
stigma/discrimination as major factors
contributing to the
associated disability and suffering.
7. Common Symptoms
ā¢ Most common symptoms
are paralysis, muscle weakness, poor
coordination, loss of sensation, twitching,
jerks seizures, confusion, pain
and altered levels of consciousness.
ā¢ Any disturbances in the nerve conduction of
impulses/signals may lead to nerve twitchings
or jerks, spasm, paralytic conditions etc.
8. Aphorisms
ā¢ Ā§ 173
ā¢ The only diseases that seem to have but few symptoms,
and on that account to be less amenable to cure, are those
which may be termed one-sided, because they display only
one or two principal symptoms which obscure almost all
the others. They belong chiefly to the class of chronic
diseases.
ā¢ Ā§ 176
ā¢ There are, however, still a few diseases, which, after the
most careful initial examination (Ā§Ā§ 84-98), present but one
or two severe, violent symptoms, while all the others are
but indistinctly perceptible.
9. Aphorisms 177
Ā§ 177
In order to meet most successfully such a case as this, which
is of very rare occurrence, we are in the first place to select,
guided by these few symptoms, the medicine which in our
judgment is the most homoeopathically indicated.
10. Aphorism 185
ā¢ Ā§ 185
ā¢ Among the one-sided disease an important place
is occupied by the so-called local maladies, by
which term is signified those changes and
ailments that appear on the external parts of the
body. Till now the idea prevalent in the schools
was that these parts were alone morbidly
affected, and that the rest of the body did not
participate in the disease ā a theoretical, absurd
doctrine, which has led to the most disastrous
medical treatment.
11. Nerve regeneration
ā¢ Nerve regeneration is a complex biological
phenomenon ,in peripheral nervous system,
nerves can regenerate to some extent if
injuries are small. Scientist are trying to find
new methods for repair and regeneration of
nerve tissue by graft and bio engineering and
cell culture . Unfortunately, a solution to
completely repair spinal cord injury has not
been found.
12. Managment
ā¢ Management and care plays an important
part in any treatment and so in neurological
disorders also.
ā¢ Healthy nutrition is very important as
improves immunity
ā¢ Counselling the patient and attendant
ā¢ Hygiene maintenance equally important to
avoid infections
13. Homeopathic approach
ā¢ When a patient comes to a homeopathic
physician , the symptoms which are vague for
allopathic system , become an important part
of homeopathic case taking sometimes so:
ā¢ Listen him carefully, give him confidence to
express
ā¢ Unprejudiced approach
ā¢ Cause and modalities should be given
importance along with mental symptoms
14. Homeopathic Approach
ā¢ Investigations play an important role even in
homeopathic treatment as help us in
understanding the diseases prognosis, and so
help in convincing the patient and also increase
the self confidence .
ā¢ Our aim should not be only relief but also to
prevent recurrences.
ā¢ Homeopathy gives better relief from nervous
disorders without any side-effects.
15. Homeopathic approach
ā¢ Homeopathy is a vast therapeutic system ,not
possible to learn all, but correct application of
similima can treat and relief neurological
disorders and sufferings to some extent.
ā¢ Constitutional medicines
ā¢ Hypericum ,Arnica ,calendula, ledum pal are few
names in homeopathy which we use successfully
in nerve injuries as specific medicines.
ā¢ Argentum nitricum, plumbum met and many
more med can be used to help in conservative
treatment neurological disorders.

21. Conclusion
Repertary is a collection of rubrics/symptoms
,each rubric with group of sub rubrics which
needs dedication to learn and execute, and so
much to analyse and understand.
This is the need of time to combine
homeopathic medicines to ease the suffering of
patients , with constitutional as well as specific
homeopathic medicines in acute and chronic
neurological disorders.
