household names today. Dr. Strong has worked as a consultant to major Australian and
international pharmaceutical and food companies and his research and development has
resulted in a number of issued and pending patents in Australia, USA, New Zealand and
other overseas countries.
Kim Gilmore is a Director of Neurolex Pty. Ltd. responsible for marketing. She has a career
spanning many years in legal and real estate marketing, as well as property planning and
development. She brings to Neurolex the benefit of a number of years of experience and

• Inflammation – High Fat diets as well as the
overweight or obese conditions, typical of
Western Societies are underlying causal factors in
development of most age-related diseases, and
the ageing process . “Free Radicals” resulting
from oxidative stress are widely implicated in the
inflammatory process producing a range of
destructive inflammatory cytokines leading to the
low-grade systemic inflammation
• Oxidative Stress – An imbalance of “free
radicals” caused by poor diet, alcohol, drugs and
smoking, impair the body’s natural capacity to
absorb, repair, destroy or neutralise damage
caused by these very reactive molecules. It is
estimated the “oxidative hits” to DNA per cell per
day, is about 10,000. As the adult human body
contains about 100-trillion cells, we can begin to
realise the enormity of the constant oxidative
assault which has to be confronted and
satisfactorily dealt with by our ever-diminishing
defences each day
• Low-Grade Metabolic Endotoxemia –
Healthy bacterial balance in your gut is altered by
the high fat and sugar content of our typical
Western diet which results in production of
lipopolysaccharides, the bacterial metabolites of some
gram-negative (putrefactive) bacteria. These toxic
bacterial metabolites produce metabolic endotoxemia,
increasing significantly, the oxidative and inflammatory
stress. Unchecked toxemia can sometimes be fatal.
• Glycation – Is the most visible ageing factor
affecting our skin and cartilage and is a natural
process affecting proteins throughout our body and
producing pro-inflammatory and oxidative advanced
glycation end products (AGE’s) Particularly
vulnerable is the protein, collagen, resulting in skin
wrinkling and sagging, and well known visible signs of
ageing. Cartilage and collagen is also damaged by
AGE’s producing the common painful condition,
osteoarthritis. A major source of AGE’s is the protein
in foods which are processed at high temperatures,
such as baked, fried or barbecued meats, pasteurised
dairy products and bakery products.
All of these conditions, according to published
scientific studies, are underlying casual factors in
chronic diseases including:
Diabetes, Heart Disease & Stroke, Cancers,
Atherosclerosis, Osteoporosis, Neurogenerative
Diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinsons)

HEALTHY AGEING –It’s Mostly Up To You
Question: What do these conditions have in common?
Answer: All of these conditions promote significantly increased levels of the enemies of
healthy ageing - Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, Low-Grade Metabolic Endotoxemia and Glycation.
At the slightest provocation – a mosquito bite, sunburn,
a tiny splinter – the body mounts a hair-trigger defence,
sending cells and natural chemicals to destroy dirt or
germs and repair the damage. As a result the site of
the injury becomes red, swollen, warm and painful –
INFLAMED.
INFLAMMATION not only occurs on the skin, but
internally too, when viruses invade the body, or the
stomach is irritated by spoiled food. It is the body’s
fundamental way of protecting itself.
Throughout human history, man’s life span of 40 or 50
years has almost doubled, so that our immune system
has had to remain active for several additional decades,
compared with past centuries.
As we age, the human immune system becomes over
activated, leading to CHRONIC, LOW-GRADE
SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATION, that slowly, but
inexorably, damages one or several organs, and it is
considered to be the major risk factor for age-related
chronic diseases. Whilst our level of chronic low grade
inflammation is INCREASING, unfortunately, our natural
anti-inflammatory defences are DIMINISHING, resulting
in this inflammatory/anti-inflammatory imbalance, and
with it, unsuccessful ageing.
Inflammation is the response of the immune system to
the invasion of viruses or bacteria and other pathogens,
by producing INFLAMMATORY CYTOKINES. In more
recent times, further inflammatory response is the result
of lifestyle factors, such as the typically increased fat
level of our diet and an increase in fat cells, each of
which induce an increase in low grade SYSTEMIC
INFLAMMATION.
In the long run, however, INFLAMMATION can harm
the very tissues it is meant to heal. Its destructive side
has long been evident in diseases like RHEUMATOID
ARTHRITIS, in which INFLAMMATION cripples the
joints, and MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, in which it destroys
the insulation surrounding nerve fibres.
But now scientists are coming to realise that
inflammation may underlie many other common chronic
diseases that come with ageing, including:
Products with a high ORAC VALUE ARE VALUABLE
IN REDUCING OXIDATIVE DAMAGE ON A
CELLULAR LEVEL, THAT MAY CONTRIBUTE TO
DEGENERATIVE DISEASES OF AGEING, SUCH AS
CANCER, CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE AND
IMMUNE SYSTEM DECLINE.
ATHEROSCLEROSIS, DIABETES, ALZHEIMER’S
DISEASE and OSTEOPOROSIS.
INFLAMMATION is also implicated in ASTHMA,
CIRRHOSIS OF THE LIVER, SOME BOWEL
DISORDERS, PSORIASIS, MENINGITIS, CYSTIC
FIBROSIS and even CANCER.
What are *ORAC UNITS?
(Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity).
ORAC, developed by the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, is a reliable quantitative total antioxidant
capacity measurement of the many complicated
mixtures of antioxidants in fruits & vegetables. It is the
standardised measure of free radical neutralising power
of particular foods, supplements and compounds.
THE BODY’S
DEFENDER GOES
ON THE ATTACK.
Regular use of NEUROLEX results in an important
and significant increase in the health promoting Gut
microbiota composition, GRAM-NEGATIVE
BACTERIA, AND INTESTINAL BIFIDOBACTERIA
population, with consequent reduction in levels of
harmful, putrefactive bacteria, reducing
disease-promoting metabolic endotoxemia, improved
bowel function and a noticeable improvement in
feelings of wellbeing. NEUROLEX contains a high
level of grapeseed extract, and you can see from the
chart, its potent antioxidant potential.
Each teaspoon addition of NEUROLEX to a daily diet
provides 100 milligrams of concentrated and
standardised high flavonoid grape seed extract
combined with 4 grams of health-promoting prebiotic
oligofructose & inulin (soluble dietary fibre), making
NEUROLEX arguably the most potent
antioxidant/anti-inflammatory natural food ingredient
now available.

You may be surprised to know that most cells in our
body are not human but microbial, and the ratio of
“them” to “us” is about 10 to 1. These microbes can
be viewed as a “metabolic organ” exquisitely tuned to
our physiology, performing functions that we have not
had to evolve on our own. These functions include the
ability to process otherwise indigestible components
of our diet such as plant polysaccharides, and
performing an enormous array of vital functions,
including helping regulate the calories the body
extracts from food and stores as fat. In other words,
they help REGULATE WEIGHT. A study suggests
that the particular type and balance of bugs you
harbor in your gut may help push your body toward
either obesity or leanness, and that these microbe
populations might be manipulated by dietary means
to potentially CHANGE YOUR WEIGHT.
