This document summarizes the findings of a survey of 6 shopkeepers in Thamel, Nepal on the economic, social, and environmental impacts of tourism development. Key findings include: (1) Most respondents said their income and the supply of goods have increased due to higher demand from tourism. (2) The majority agreed cultural exchange and life standards have increased, while traditional culture and forest areas have decreased. (3) Respondents attributed water quality issues more to irresponsible government than tourism specifically.
