surrounded by water, but the land
surrounding that is Taiwan at the bottom
working up to North and South Korea and
towards the top there is China and Russia.

4. Climate and Topography map
-Eastern Japan has hot and humid
summers and cold winters with very heavy
snow on the Sea of Japan side and in
mountainous areas. Western Japan has
very hot and humid summers (with
temperatures sometimes reaching 35 oC
or above) and moderate cold winters.
Okinawa and Amami have a subtropical
oceanic climate.

5. Government Structure:
The Government of Japan consists of legislative,
executive and judiciary branches and is based on popular
sovereignty. The Government runs under the framework
established by the Constitution of Japan adopted in 1947.
It is a unitary state, containing forty-seven Administrative
Divisions with the Emperor as its Head of State. His role
is ceremonial and he has no powers related to
Government; instead, it is the Cabinet comprising the
Ministers of State and the prime Minister, that directs and
controls the Government and the civil service. The
Cabinet has the executive power and is formed by the
Prime Minister, who is the Head of Government. The
Prime Minister is nominated by the National
Diet and appointed to office by the Emperor.

The currency in Japan is referred to as yen. $1 in the United States is worth the same as 150.38357143 JPY

Exports of high technology products have been the
engine of Japan's economic growth since 1960.
Exports account for around 19 percent of total GDP.
In 2019 exports fell 5.6 percent from the previous
year's record high amid global trade tensions. Main
exports were: transport equipment (24 percent of
total exports), with motor vehicles accounting for 16
percent; machinery (20 percent) on the back of
power generating machine and semi-con machinery;
electrical machinery (17 percent), such as
semiconductors, IC and electrical apparatus;
chemicals (11 percent), mainly plastic materials and
organic chemicals; and manufactured goods (11
percent), such as iron and steel products, nonferrous
metals and manufactures of metals. Japan's main
export partners were the US (20 percent), China (19
percent), the EU (12 percent) in particular Germany
(3 percent), South Korea (7 percent), Taiwan (6
percent), Hong Kong (5 percent), and Thailand (4
percent).
