Nelson Mandela was born in 1918 in Africa and grew up in a tribe. He attended school and later became a lawyer. As a lawyer and member of the ANC, he fought against the racist system in South Africa, which led to his imprisonment from 1964 to 1990. In 1993, Mandela and de Klerk won the Nobel Peace Prize for helping end apartheid and their struggle for racial equality in South Africa.
