Jennifer Batchelor is a 2006 graduate of NCSSM. She finished up a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Elon
University in December of 2009 with minors in Statistics and Computer Science. While in school she was
elected to serve as Governor of the North Carolina Student Legislature, which is a non-profit organization that
seeks to educate college students about public policy. She also volunteered frequently with Alpha Phi Omega, a
service fraternity at her school. Now, Jennifer works as a Software Tester in the Research and Development
division at SAS Institute in Cary, NC.

Anna Shepherd is a 2005 graduate of NCSSM. She then headed to N.C. State University, earning her B.S.
degree in Criminology in 2008. While at NCSSM, Anna served as a Student Ambassador. That endeavor
continued while at N.C. State, where she acted as an Ambassador for the College of Agriculture and Life
Sciences. She will be starting her Masters degree in the fall of 2009 at N.C. State while working. As a new
member of the Alumni Board, Anna hopes to continue her volunteer efforts with NCSSM. She has volunteered
regularly since her graduation and looks forward to continuing the pattern.

After graduating from NCSSM in 1997, Amanda Hodges received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication
Studies and Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2001 as well as a Master of Science Degree in Counselor
Education and a Master of Public Administration Degree from East Carolina University in 2003 and 2006,
respectively. Amanda currently lives in Greenville, NC and works for East Carolina University as an Academic
Advisor for the School of Communication there. Prior to this, she worked as a middle school counselor and a
marketing and communications assistant.        In her free time, Amanda enjoys volunteering with various
organizations such as the Miss North Carolina Pageant Association, the Greenville Jaycees, UNC’s General
Alumni Association and the American Heart Association. She has been an active volunteer and advocate for the
American Heart Association on a local, state, and national level since 2002 and is currently the Eastern Region
Leader for the NC American Heart Association Advocacy Coordinating Committee. Amanda will represent her
graduating class of 2001 in this year’s Alumni Processional as part of the University Day and Chancellor’s
Inauguration events at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Jenny Idichandy is a homemaker, small business owner and active community volunteer. In addition to serving
on the NCSSM Alumni Board, Jenny serves in leadership roles at her children’s elementary school, both on the
PTA Executive Board and as a parent representative to the Local School Advisory Council. Despite having no
camping or craft skills, she is currently the troop leader for two Girl Scout troops, for six years and two years
respectively. Previously, Jenny served as the Community Newsletter Editor for the Junior League of Atlanta, and
helped coordinate social activities for children at the City of Refuge, a charity that seeks to combat poverty in
Atlanta.
Jenny left the corporate world soon after the birth of her youngest daughter to start her own Employee Benefits
consulting business. JVI Resource Group, LLC provides consulting services, project management, and/or
administrative support to the small business market.
In her spare time, Jenny enjoys playing tennis, reading, and forcing her family to eat her culinary creations.
Jenny and her husband, Alex, live in Alpharetta, GA with their two daughters, Leah (11) and Anna (6).

Colin Law is a 1986 graduate of NCSSM, consistently voted the greatest class of all time. He got his B.S. in
Physics from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1990, then abandoned pork barbecue for brisket and went to Houston, TX,
obtaining his Ph.D. as a rocket scientist from Rice University in 1995. Despite the obvious sea of opportunities to
parlay this lofty degree into real money, he remains at Rice, making epoch-shattering scientific breakthroughs
and writing software with NASA funding that educates students about space. He telecommutes from his home in
Atlanta, Georgia, where he lives with his FBI special agent wife [REDACTED]. In his spare time, Colin heads
Slash MC Productions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chunky Boy, Inc.




            NAME: Kim Mantooth Lott

Kim Mantooth Lott is a 1989 graduate of NCSSM. Following graduation she earned a B.S. in Biology at Duke
University, graduating in 1993.      From there she meandered through a several jobs including clinical
pharmaceutical research, medical office manager, special events coordinator at a church, and paralegal. She
took a few years off to stay home with her children. She is currently enrolled at the Campbell School of Law in
Raleigh, NC, and expects to receive her J.D. in 2012. Kim is married with 2 children, ages 9 and 6. She lives in
Cary, NC. She enjoys hiking, biking, reading and socializing with friends
NAME: Brian Mahoney

Brian Mahoney is a 1990 graduate of NCSSM. He earned a biology degree from Duke University and served as
a Lieutenant in the US Navy. After a short stint as a geneticist at the Genetics & IVF Institute, he switched his
career path in 1996 to head both the Customer Surveying Services and Information Services divisions at the
Jackson Group, a small healthcare consultancy. During that time, Mr. Mahoney also co-founded and served as
Vice President of Marketing for Partz Online, a small Internet start-up.
Brian then took an account management position at a market research firm in Chapel Hill before becoming a
founding partner at Percept Research in 2003. As Managing Partner, he currently directs customer loyalty and
brand positioning studies for large corporate clients. Mr. Mahoney is also active in community service with the
Raleigh Jaycees.

Emily Martine, class of 1988, recipient of the 2003 Henry Kuo Service Award, is a homemaker and active
community volunteer. In addition to serving on the NCSSM Alumni Board, Emily is Chair the Board of Directors at
her son’s preschool, where she has led fundraising efforts and recently was recognized as Volunteer of the Year.
She is also a volunteer reading tutor for low-income children with the Augustine Project (http://
www.augustineproject.org/), and Vice-President of Membership, Volunteers and Events for the PTA, and
Coordinator for Odyssey of the Mind (http://www.odysseyofthemind.org/) at her oldest son’s elementary school,
and is a school representative for PAGE (Partners Advocating for Gifted Education). Prior to leaving the
corporate track for the mommy track, Emily worked for seven years for GE Capital, where she was a Regional
Operations Manager in Sales and Marketing. In her spare time, Emily enjoys cooking, reading and singing in her
church choir. Emily and her husband, Michael, (NCSSM class of 1987) live in Chapel Hill with their three
children, Max (8), Cal (4), and Lucy (2).
