China has a long history and was one of the earliest civilizations, dating back thousands of years. The Shang Dynasty ruled from around 1600 BC to 1046 BC and was the first dynasty to be mentioned in ancient historical records. During this time, the Chinese began to develop writing, advanced bronze-working techniques, and waged numerous wars with other groups.
