WE THE PEOPLE
With a massive mandate in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the
BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 353 of 542
seats in the lower house of parliament with a 45 percent vote
share. However, Sothern States had a different preference.
The BJP alone walked away with 303 seats, improving its tally
of 282 (previous Lok Sabha Elections). The victory of the
saffron party is historic in many aspects, in Hindi heartland.
The BJP alone garnered 37 percent of the national votes, the
highest vote share for any single party in the past two and a
half decades.
Even though, in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the BJP
had broadened its base from its traditional Brahmin –
Bania - Rajput votebank, by gaining support from other
backward class (OBC) voters as well, it was during this
election, that in a massive leap, it expanded its reach
among the scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe
(ST) community, across India. The survey results
indicate that more than 40 percent of SC voters and
nearly half of the ST voters polled in favour of BJP.
The Lok Sabha elections in UP witnessed a triangular
fight between NDA, UPA and the MGB.
In UP, the SP-BSP's combined vote share fell to 37
percent this election, while the BJP led NDA managed
a vote share of around 50 percent, in the state.
In Punjab, BJP and its allies won 30 percent Hindu and
Sikh community SC votes in the state.
While 44 percent of Sikh SC votes and 49 percent of
Hindu SC votes went to the Congress, according to the
poll results.
Prime Minister Modi's five-year rule has been marked by
o a focused and determined work towards improving
governance and
o making social benefits like access to toilets, electricity,
bank accounts, cooking gas and direct transfer of subsidy
to the bank accounts of the poor and needy in this
country.
Votes of these poor people have helped PM Modi and the
BJP overcame a stronger, more united opposition.
Leading by example is another great reason for the success of
PM Modi.
He has marshalled his cabinet colleagues, party cadre and
supporters into working overtime and with zeal and high spirits.
His command over his party and the government is simply
awesome.
Having an inspiring leader is another big reason for the BJP's
ride to victory. Having a good inspiration and a role model is
another mantra for success in the money markets.
Read about different iconic investors - their biographies and
their investment philosophies and success stories.
Pride is a very strong and positive emotion. Pride in
your work, family or country is a big motivator and
helps you overcome hurdles and pains to achieve your
goal.
Restoring and augmenting national pride has been a
great accomplishment of the Modi government.
Take ownership of your portfolio and have pride in its
success. That will ensure that you work hard to make
the returns look good.
Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi said:
“Recalling his initiatives in line with his government’s
neighbourhood first policy, Prime Minister Modi referred
to his earlier suggestion to the Prime Minister of
Pakistan to fight poverty jointly.
He stressed that creating trust and an environment free
of violence and terrorism were essential for fostering
cooperation for peace, progress and prosperity in our
region.”
Labour ministry worked on an ambitious task of amalgamating,
simplifying and rationalising 44 Central laws by incorporating
relevant portions of all these laws into four Labour Codes. The
first Code talks about minimum wages for a variety of workers:
unorganised, and contract labourers in the organised sector.
The second one on industrial relations aims at changing the
rules binding labour unions, handling labour disputes, terms of
employment, lay off, retrenchment policies etc. The third,
social security and welfare expands the scope of the coverage
of Employees State Insurance (ESI) to every worker. Last one
prescribes occupational safety, health and work conditions for
labour.
The ‘Labour reform' plan is in line with
recommendations of Second National Commission on
Labour, which called for amalgamation, simplificaiton
and rationalisation of existing laws by formulating four
umbrella Labour Codes on (i) wages; (ii) industrial
relations; (iii) social security & welfare; and (iv)
occupational safety, health and working conditions.
The new scheme is a part of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's universal social security
programme. Under the scheme, all shopkeepers,
retail traders and self-employed persons are
guaranteed a monthly pension amount of ₹3,000
once they attain the age of 60 years. It aims at
benefiting over 3 crore traders and shopkeepers.
An outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in
Bihar claimed 15 more lives on Wednesday [19, June]
as the state government scrambled to stamp down on
a disease that has killed 128 children as fresh cases
were reported from some districts that had not been
affected so far. AES can be caused by a raft of factors,
including toxins in unripe litchis — Muzaffarpur is the
litchi hub of the state — viruses, bacteria, fungi,
parasites, and chemical poisons.
Seasonal outbreaks of AES are common every year in Bihar
and have been recorded in Muzaffarpur since 1995.
A doctor said he had strongly recommended medical
research and investigation of evidence linking the illness to
the consumption of litchi by malnourished children. “Litchi
secretes toxin that might be causing AES.
A field survey is paramount at this moment,” said the
superintendent, adding that malnourished children are
vulnerable to face the toxins’ effect and hence fall ill. At least
five such teams have been asked to be deployed by the
Centre.
 The auto sector in India is in trouble with the year on year
sales for two-wheelers and four-wheelers slumping. What
is causing this and what does it indicate?
 The Madras High Court has come down strongly on the
Tamil Nadu government for not taking adequate measures
to address the severe water crisis in the state. The court
had earlier sought a reply from the Tamil Nadu govt on
measures taken to address the water crisis.
 The HC observed that the government did not take
adequate steps even if the water crisis in the wake of
failed monsoons was expected.
Public investment (govt. investment in infrastructure &
development)
Internal consumption (goods and services consumed)
External consumption (exports)
Private investment.
Reduce the cost of land, labour and capital to tackle a sharp
slowdown in investment. This should be aided by robust
banking and financial systems to unleash second generation
reforms.
Technological reforms in banking space that uses data and
analytics to screen borrowers and monitor them on a real-
time basis.
Cost of land for business and Cost of money for business
are two important aspects that need attention.
