It has a long history dating back to ancient Persia and was once one of the world's earliest civilizations. Iran has a diverse landscape, from deserts to mountains to coastlines, and its economy has faced challenges in recent decades due to foreign sanctions and domestic political unrest.

Rivers contain many biotic and abiotic components. Biotic animals include butterflies, macroinvertebrates and bald eagles, while abiotic components are water, rocks and sand. Producers in rivers include blue Egyptian water lilies and aquatic plants. Consumers include ducks, deer, hummingbirds and various other species. Food chains depict the transfer of energy between producers, primary and secondary consumers. Some species living in rivers are threatened, such as river turtles and dolphins, while others such as blind salamanders and speckled chub are endangered.
