• Apply the types of planning to the different
levels of management through a business case.
4. NATURE OF PLANNING
It is the process of determining objectives
and organizational goals. It also includes
establishing strategies for the attainment of set
goals.
6. 1. Planning provides direction to all of the organization's
human resources both managers as well as employees.
2. Planning reduces uncertainty, anticipates changes
and their impact.
3. Planning minimizes wastes, negative practices
ineffectiveness and inefficiencies.
4. Plans may be used for controlling.
9. Strategic plan- the top level planning which
involves making decisions about the
organization's long term goals.
Tactical plan- the middle level management
planning which refers to procedures and
transformation of strategic plans with specific
goals.
Operational plan- lower level management
planning which involves routine tasks repeatedly
done by the firm's lower level units.
Long term plan-plans that go beyond three or
more years into the future.
10. Short term plan - plans that cover one year or
less.
Single use plans - plans used or stated once
only and tit applies to the entire organization.
Standing plans -plans that are ongoing, provide
guidance for different activities done repeatedly.
Directional plans - plans that are flexible or give
general guidelines; although flexible and general,
these plans must be related to the strategic plans.
Specific plans - plans that are clearly stated and
which have no room for interpretation; language
must be very understandable.

Development Programs for Hotel Personnel to
ensure excellent Hotel services which will ensure
good
Operational Plan: Allocate 30% of annual hotel
income for planned expansion of hotel service.
