Linguist agree that a language can be called a
language if it has;
● a system of rules (also known as grammar)
● a sound system (phonology)
● and a vocabulary (lexicon)

What langauge is used by people,
understanding each other is
possible because they come from
the same speech community.
They are able to understand each
other because they have the same
set of rules in the language system.

therefore, important to be aware of its features and
behavior to be able to use it more effectively and
productively in communicating with others.
