The media kit is an assignment for my public relations writing course at Georgetown University. The media kit was created to provide the media with information about the National Military Spouse Network (NMSN) and its 2017 Roadshows. In particular, I was assigned the Tacoma roadshow to cover. The format for the media kit is in line with the courses guidelines for constructing a media kit.

BACKGROUNDER
What happens if you are on the fast track in your career and your spouse is unexpectedly
scheduled for a deployment?? Do you still go after that promotion? How do you work?
These are questions Sue Hoppin pondered while observing the services provided to
transitioning services members and not the spouses at her job. From there, NSMN was
created as a network solely for military spouses to receive resources from experienced
professionals, find work and meet other spouses just like them. In 2010, the National
Military Spouse Network (NMSN) became active.
About National Military Spouse Network (NMSN)
The NMSN delivers ongoing personal and professional development for military spouses
by providing:
Quality content
Mentoring
Networking opportunities
Cutting edge resources
The NMSN believes that a truly portable career is one that allows military spouses to
leverage their existing skills and interests into meaningful, paid work. Through exclusive
members only networks, NMSN members can tap into the experiences and the
knowledge base of fellow members to seek guidance about their own careers.
The NMSN provides a community for military spouse professionals, businesses,
academics and media to share expertise and craft innovative solutions on balancing a
viable career with the military lifestyle.
The NMSN advocates to ensure that policy makers are aware of the key concerns facing
military spouses in the workforce, but is a non-partisan organization and does not lobby
on specific pieces of legislation.
Mission
We are the National Military Spouse Network (NMSN) - the pre-eminent networking,
mentoring and professional development organization committed to the education,
empowerment and advancement of military spouses.

Sue Hoppin
Founder and President
National Military Spouse Network
Sue Hoppin is the founder and president of the National
Military Spouse Network (NMSN). Founded in Lorton, VA
in 2010, NMSN delivers ongoing personal and professional
development for military spouses by providing quality
content, mentoring, networking opportunities and resources
including a monthly newsletter and free bi-annual digital
magazine. Hoppin is responsible for content curation,
military outreach, and the planning and execution of events
for networking and personal development for military
spouses. Most notably, she developed the NMSN Roadshow
this year to provide military spouses in areas around the
United States with a weekend of networking, skill building
and job procurement opportunities.
Hoppin has an extensive military career spanning more than 10 years. Prior to founding
NMSN, Hoppin launched her own consultancy, Hoppin Consulting International where
she provides an insider's insight and guidance to help organizations meet the needs of
military families. Hoppin also worked the Military Officers Association of America as a
deputy director for spouse outreach. During her time in this role, Hoppin noticed the lack
of transitional services for military spouses. A light bulb went off and she later launched
NMSN to equip spouses with the resources needed to find meaningful work and integrate
back into the workforce.
Hoppin’s experience and interest in military life led her to co-author her first book,
"A Family's Guide to the Military for Dummies." The book was written for the millions
of military dependents, family members, and friends who are looking for straightforward
guidance to take advantage of the benefits and overcome the challenges unique to life in
the military.
Hoppin holds a bachelor's degree in international studies from the University of Denver,
a master's degree in international relations from the University of Oklahoma and a
postgraduate certificate in non-profit management from Georgetown University.
Sue Hoppin enjoys her work with the National Military Spouses Network and in the
coming year has plans to expand the roadshow to more places across the nation.
