The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, is launching a national consultation on economic immigration. He believes that Brussels has failed to adequately address the issues of immigration and terrorism, particularly in the wake of recent terror attacks in Paris. Orbán argues that Hungary must develop its own approach and policies to limit rapidly rising economic immigration and stop illegal border crossings, in order to protect jobs and livelihoods for Hungarians. He is asking citizens to complete a questionnaire regarding their views on these issues and whether they support more stringent immigration regulations introduced by the Hungarian government.

The topic that I have chosen is “economic policies that enable immigrants to thrive”. Immigrants play an important role in the history of the world. Many of the current nations were formed by the successive waves of immigrants moving in and out of the country. Immigration has helped to form the foundation of nations, win wars, and drive counties to great prosperity. Immigration is currently a hot button issue, wars and falling regimes have led many to leave their countries to seek a better life in western countries. The treatment of these immigrants has been lukewarm at best. Countries should change their attitudes regarding how they deal with immigrants. By instituting the right policies, countries can leverage the skills and hard work of immigrants to propel the country to great heights of prosperity and cultural integration. I feel this topic is a pertinent one in addressing the current immigration crisis.
A lot of ink is spewed everyday on the economic merits or demerits of immigration. For the purposes of this topic, I have chosen two scholarly articles to provide insight and guidance. The first source is immigration economics by authors George and Borjas. The book explores economic themes in relation to economics. It examines the effect that immigrants have on their host country from an economical perspective. The book hopes to shape the discourse on immigration by diluting it to its core economic underpinnings that will enable legislators to clearly understand the issue and make better decisions (Borjas, George, 2014). The second source I will use is economic growth & immigration: bridging the demographic divide, written by the immigration policy center. It explores themes of immigration and the economic growth of a nation. As such, it is very relevant to the topic I have chosen and will provide valuable insight.
Scholarly articles should be used because they present the opinion and finding of authors who are much educated on the topic at hand. They allow successive students and authors on the topic to build upon the findings and advance the topic further. They also enlighten one and provide guidance in writing about the topic.

PROBLEM OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION 6
What should countries do to address the problem of illegal immigration?
Illegal immigration has been a problem for decades, and the blame rests on politicians who are not ready to enforce the law. There is still a chance of fixing it, and most of the immigrants would be prepared to rally around this plan that comprises of the rule of law, decency, and common sense. As a result, this paper provides synthesized rhetorical analysis of three sources addressing the issue of what should countries do to address the problem of illegal immigration? The sources that analyzed in the paper are, controlling illegal immigration: on the scope for cooperation with a transit country, press coverage of the refugee and migrant crisis in the EU: A content analysis of five European countries, and solving illegal immigration [For Real].
The first source about controlling illegal immigration targets politicians in developed countries as the intended audience. The article has rich literature on the immigration policy that if implemented by the lawmakers of developed countries would substantially address the problem of illegal immigration.
The purpose of this text is to offer insights into the rule of law that would be used in addressing illegal immigration. The article raises the question of the assistance that leads to an increase in migration pressure from developing countries. It was articulated when the U.S raised the issue of illegal immigration from Mexico and other African countries.
The authors of this article are credible since they are authors and academicians in prominent universities. The reasons provided on how to handle the issue of illegal immigration depicts the credibility of these authors.
Reader's reaction to the article can be positive because it brings a lot of hope to deal with the immigration issue. The article is portrayed as to evoke the sufferings that immigrant employees have undergone probably when being treated as illegal immigrants, yet they are contributing to the economic growth of a country.
The elements are organized professionally. In short, the arrangement seems logical because the article is organized, starting with the abstract to a conclusion that offers comprehensive research on the topic.
Finally, the article was first published on the 3rd of July 2014 at the University of Bath. The article can be said it was timely since it happens during the review of International Economics, where the issue of illegal immigration was a critical factor in the discussion.
The second source is a project report written by three authors about press coverage of the refugee and migrant crisis in the European Union with consideration of five European countries. The report is meant to address leaders of different countries as well as the public about cooperation as well as shaping ways to find solutions to illegal immigration. Title: Progress Assignment
Introduction
Immigration has been one of the most emotive topics in the world over the years. This is especially so in Germany since the country is not only home to numerous immigrants but also continues to receive and accommodate many immigrants from many middle eastern and African countries who are either escaping their countries due to war, political and civil conflicts, invitation by relatives or even looking for employment among other reasons. However, immigration, which involves the movement of people into a different country also raises several concerns regarding both the security of the immigrants and the country.
Thesis Statement
Based on the foregoing background information, the purpose of this research will be to explore whether the refugee crisis from certain African and Middle Eastern countries has impacted human security in Germany. This is in an attempt to not only understand the extent of the problem but also contribute to the existing body of literature regarding the topic by providing actionable recommendations. Subsequently, the research will be geared at proving that the refugee crisis has had a (vague) on human security in Germany. (If your thesis is that the refugee crisis is threatening economic, social, and political stability in Germany, then state that. Don’t be vague. A great influence could be positive or negative and that’s not really debatable.)
Background
Over the past years, a lot of research regarding the implications of immigration in Germany has been carried out. However, most of the research has largely focused on national security, crime and violent extremism. However, human security which is the focus of this paper involves the lives of people and their livelihoods both for the natives of Germany as well as those seeking or immigrating into the country.
Germany according to Ostrand, (2015) is one of the countries that accommodate many refugees from African and Middle Eastern countries like Syria. For instance, according to research Germany and Sweden were the countries that accommodated most of the refugees escaping Syria due to war in 2014 (Ostrand, 2015). According to Purkayastha, (2018) Un estimates indicate that 14.8% or 12,165,083 people residing in Germany in 2017 were immigrants. As a result, the country incurs certain burdens such as crime, housing, lack of adequate jobs among others in accommodating refugees. One of the key issues regarding immigration is human security.
Issues around Immigration (You still need to apply a theoretical perspective – such as the realist, idealist or constructivist worldview to your analysis in this section.)
The main issues that arise regarding immigration and human security involve the laws protecting both the citizens and the immigrants, the number of immigrants moving into Germany and its implications to both population growth and security as well as .
Switzerland, like other European countries that recruited labor migrants after World War II, faces an increasing number of elderly migrants. Most elderly individuals with a migration background wish to spend their life after retirement in their country of reception, while remaining transnationally mobile for as long as possible, thus commuting between the country of reception and the country of origin.

National consultation Hungary
1. Dear Hungarian Citizen,
In 2010 we Hungarians decided to discuss every important issue before decisions are taken.
This is why we launched national consultations on issues which have included Hungary’s
new Fundamental Law, social security as a matter concerning us all, and the improvement of
the situation of pensioners. And this is why we are now launching another national
consultation, this time on the issue of economic immigration.
I am sure you will remember that at the beginning of the year Europe was shaken by an
unprecedented act of terror. In Paris the lives of innocent people were extinguished, in cold
blood and with terrifying brutality. We were all shocked by what happened. At the same time,
this incomprehensible act of horror also demonstrated that Brussels and the European Union
are unable to adequately deal with the issue of immigration.
Economic migrants cross our borders illegally, and while they present themselves as asylum-
seekers, in fact they are coming to enjoy our welfare systems and the employment
opportunities our countries have to offer. In the last few months alone, in Hungary the
number of economic migrants has increased approximately twentyfold. This represents a new
type of threat – a threat which we must stop in its tracks.
As Brussels has failed to address immigration appropriately, Hungary must follow its own
path. We shall not allow economic migrants to jeopardise the jobs and livelihoods of
Hungarians.
We must make a decision on how Hungary should defend itself against illegal immigrants.
We must make a decision on how to limit rapidly rising economic immigration.
Please contact us and give us your response to the questions we are asking. Please complete
and return the questionnaire. I am counting on your opinion.
With regards,
Viktor Orbán
