Nearly 30% of fatal light aircraft accidents are caused by stalling and spinning at low altitudes before the spin fully develops, according to grim statistics. NASA has proposed a safe wing design to prevent such accidents caused by poor wing designs. The design includes wing slots, washout at the wing tips to reduce tip angles, greater camber at the tips, and drooped ailerons ahead of the wing to delay stalling and allow use of the ailerons to recover from spins.
